Interesting discovery: using #Linux kernel 6.14.6 and a #Thinkpad T420, if I plug in an external USB Wi-Fi card and then use the #killswitch on the laptop to turn off all radios, it also disables the USB Wi-Fi. Not exactly how I'd like it to work (since worst case I can just rip the USB out if I need to disconnect that device), but it's useful in that it seems to be guaranteeing no network access on Linux when killswitched.

Only if you drive a vehicle that is connected to the internet (which all teslas are) with upgradable software for motivity (Teslas are fully dependent on software for all functions). There is a price to pay for purchasing an EV or indeed and ICEV similarly connected and dependent that is rarely talked about and the dependency correlates with IoT roll-out in all manner of consumer products.
You wake one morning and find your coffee machine and toasters disabled by a govt agency because you failed to pay a fine. Your fridge won’t open. Your water and energy supplies are shut off, your tv non functional, and you can’t even get your electric bicycle out of the garage because it’s too heavy without assist and the garage door won’t open. At night, none of your lights come on and your front door is permanently unlocked. All the while installed security cameras, the cameras on your disabled mobile, iPad and PC are used to keep an eye on you. Total dystopia within the realm of current technology. We should all be afraid.
That’s where dark thoughts take you. Better to make informed decisions about what you purchase and question the need to purchase it. Above all, Vote well informed.

Ja, wenn man sich wirklich bewusst macht, dass MS eine weltweite (!) Monopolstellung im Desktop-Bereich hat und es im Prinzip reicht, über ein Update - es weiß ja niemand, was während eines Updates im Code passiert - einen "Software-Killswitch" einzubauen, kann einem schon anders werden!
Mit einem solchen Schalter könnte die Welt ins Chaos gestürzt werden!
Es mag - Stand heute - vielleicht unwahrscheinlich sein, dass das passieren könnte, aber für technisch unmöglich halte ich es nicht, oder?
