There will be a 80-minute open-call symposium (a parallel session) on

"Genome Alignments: Are We Ready to Unravel Evolution Across the Tree of Life?"

at the #MBSJ2025 (#Molecular #Biology Society of #Japan) #conference, also known as "#Bunsei", in #Yokohama on December 3rd; I am co-organiser with Martin Frith. We have a couple of slots left for 10~15 min talks with a the possibility of partial support for international speakers. We are on a mission that no gender should be over-represented, and you surely can guess which one is at the moment.

Here is the symposium abstract: #Chromosome-scale and complete #genome #assemblies are becoming available for organisms across the whole #TreeofLife. Genome #alignments empower studies that cover #evolutionary scales from thousands to billions of years. This symposium will present the latest biological insights obtained from genome alignments as well as new methods, software and pipelines.
