#Israelism Film Screening & Panel Discussion

#Multicultural #Greens #Victoria has been working closely with #Jewish Greens and Young Greens on the film screening of the Israelism film which follows young #American Jewish people who have grown up #indoctrinated about how the state of #Israel is a #democratic beacon of hope in the Middle East, only to discover when they are older that it is not. The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion.

Multicultural Greens Victoria has been working closely with Jewish Greens and Young Greens on the film screening of the Israelism film which follows young American Jewish people who have grown up indoctrinated about how the state of Israel is a democratic beacon of hope in the Middle East, only to discover when they are older that it is not. The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring:

A warm welcome to our guests from Namibia

A group of students from the University of Namibia (UNAM) @unam has arrived at Weingarten. The Rector Prof. Dr. Karin Schweizer said hello to them and pointed out, that international cooperations are very important to the University Weingarten.

The students are participating in the project MIBKon dealing with multi-lingualism in the context of education. Dr. Anny Schweigkofler Kuhn from the University of Education Weingarten, who leads the project together with Dr. Gerda Wittmann from UNAM, said that the students from Namibia are working together with the students from Germany, they have two meetings in person and are otherwise active in online seminars. The project has started in 2023 and is supported by the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung.

The students participating in the projects do not only have the opportunity to visit each other in their home countries but they can also acquire multicultural understanding and skills. Most of them are aiming at becoming a teacher, so these competencies will be very helpful for their future profession.

The "#KarnevalderKulturen"is a #multicultural #event in #Berlin held annually on Whitsun weekend, consisting of a four-day street festival and a #parade on Whitsun Sunday. The event, which exists since 1996 and usually takes place in Kreuzberg district, aims to foster #artistic and #cultural collaboration to #showcase Berlin's multicultural #diversity. Up to one million people attend the street parade annually. In 2025, the parade took place in #Friedrichshain.

I saw the Buddha in the stone

The heritage from the old capital city of Chenla is still visible in the Kampong Thom area.

When it comes to the art of stonework is still kept in high regards in the modern day just south of Kampong Thom city.
Driving southeast along National Road 6 towards Kampong Cham, Skoun and Phnom Penh, you will drive along stone masonries and cement sculptures along the road. And you get to see how its done.

Common heritage framed by trees

Framed by trees and jungle, the Sâmbor Prey Kŭh temples of pre-Angkor Chenla kingdom was added to our common World Cultural Heritage list in 2017.

I visited this site and took this photo the year before this admittance, in the end of December 2016.

The bridge city near the river city Kampong Thom
North of the Kampong Thom city area the Sambor Prei Kouk complex marks the old capital Isanapura of the Chenla civilization.

The Funan state was a loosely organized confederation of cities and lesser kingdoms with large population centres and advanced technology. It was established around the start of current Common Era and lasted about 500 years, covering most of today’s Cambodia and Thailand, Southern Viet Nam, and northern part of Malaysia.

Establishing the Chenla kingdom marks the rapid development of architecture, culture and society building into a unified centralised kingdom and culture. This led into the foundations of the Angkor era. The Chenla kings increased their power north into today’s Laos and close to Burma.

The Chenla capital city Isanapura (Khmer: ឦសានបុរៈ – Isan Borak) was the core city of pre-Khmer Empire for 250 years, between 550 and 800 CE. The first writings in the Khmer alphabet are found here, marking a continuous written culture lasting up to modern times.
