If you’re headed to Death Valley, make sure you add some time at nearby Ash Meadows NWR too. Definitely worth a visit…

Are there any fish experts out there? I've been a fish keeper for fifty years but am not an expert. The fish I carefully observed for a good thirty seconds in a local water hole/creek was similar to this, only bigger, I'd say 25cm to 30cm plus. Maybe a Blue Mountains Perch?

Blue Mountains Perch?

I figured I've posted plenty o' fish on this here profile so far, but not dang near enough of them fish's marvelous homesteads! Here's a few pictures of some of my favorite summer spots to sling dries, swing streamers, an' stumble over boulders.

Keep 'em in the water, handle 'em with wet hands, release 'em fast, an' watch that backcast!

Hard to beat a mountain Brook or a native Cutt, but I'ma tell ya somethin', it's hard to find a creature that'll fight as tough as a small water Brown. Just look at those red spots! Don't have too many underwater shots, but heck this catch on a drowned elk hair caddis is just too pretty not to share.

Just remember - get 'em off the hook and back home quick!

2022 was a good year for my underwater photography, not the most intense because we moved house mid-summer. Let's hope for a better one in 2023!
