57 heures écoulées pour un peu plus de la moitier du disque, faut être patient, mais ça fonctionne.

Over the course of the weekend, I managed to degoogle myself a refurbished Pixel 8 to /e/ OS (very surprised to see that Backmarket isn't performing a proper reinstall of a fresh OS, just deleting the user content data!) and imaged an HDD from my family's computer in the early 2000's. Recovering data from it brings a lot of old memories... (Tried #photorec, #fiwalk and #filetrove on them, those are incredible tools.)

Still impressed with bash scripts. I was looking for a way to sort my files by type after recovering data with Photorec. I was able to sort all the PDF, JPG, and other files that Photorec recovered.

Another status update: using #Photorec on my main pc I have been able to recover a lot of my files from the mirrored drives from the minion Debian file server.

Photorec is still running. When I last looked I was up to 645 recovery folders. So far I have manually sifted through 400 of the folders to find pictures. Lots more to sift through. Then a final double check.

Status update: running gparted data recovery on the mini #Debian file server produced no results after 8 days. Now I am running #Testdisk on the mini server with one of the drives and #Photorec running on my main pc with the other drive.

Hopefully this will save a handful of my picture folders that I did not back up elsewhere.

For some reason one of my #OrgRoam files were suddenly 0 bytes, with no undo information.

It wasn't the most important file, but vexing to lose it nonetheless.

After some thinking I ran #PhotoRec (https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec) looking for txt-files.

There were quite a few results, but I was able to search them quickly with rg/#RipGrep by exluding some files and adding some context:

rg -Txml -Thtml -B 5 'category: Wiki' recup_dir.* | less

Found the file, and have now added it to git properly. 🎉

Analiza los contenidos que encuentra en el pendrive aunque no tenga formato y consigues recuperar los datos, aunque luego tienes que buscarte la vida para ponerle el nombre a cada cosa.

Como apunte adicional, en virustotal había uno que marcaba photorec como infectado, así que les contacté y lo corrigieron.

No la vi, pero estimo debe usar windows... ya he pedido no la usen hasta se logre probar recuperar algo...

Lo optimo sería sacarle el HD, enchufarlo en otra computadora y desde ese otro sistema intentar recuperar archivos, no?
