Does Video Show Ribbon Worm, 'Spitting a Living, Tree-Like Proboscis to Hunt Its Prey'?

The #proboscis monkey is a large primate endemic to the island of Borneo. It's named after the long, hanging nose present in males. Spends most of its time living in the trees near mangrove #forests or #jungle streams.
These fleshy #noses can grow to as long as 4 in (10 cm), often hanging lower than their mouths. These are absent in females monkeys which have smaller, triangular noses. All proboscis monkeys have webbed toes and fingers that aid in swimming.

These are a few photographs from yesterday.
I scrambled to get the phone out after a curious #bee landed on one of my son’s hot chocolate cup.
The sweet chockie on the lid was a definite go-to for this little fella. In fact, he even went back for seconds.
(Notice in the middle shot, how he sucks up droplets of the liquid using a long straw-like tongue called a #proboscis? - pretty cool!)

A proboscis—thought to represent a fused pair of head appendages—was not unique to #opabiniids, but instead was present in the common ancestor of #radiodonts and modern #arthropods, and through evolutionary time may have reduced to become the labrum of modern arthropods.
Here’s another #picture of a #RedAdmiral #butterfly feeding on #ivy #flowers. Note its #proboscis is clearly visible.
