The image is in vertical orientation. There's a caterpillar, a straw roof, a bit of wood and blurry background. The caterpillar is in the center of the image. It's hanging by its tail from a straw roof. It's facing to the left. It has sharp spiky looking extrusions coming out of its back and lots of small white hair all around its body. Its legs are to the left. 4 pairs of soft squiggly legs are visible. Two pairs of sharp bug legs are below the softer looking ones. The legs are orange. Most of its body is black. The left side of the straw roof is closer to the camera than the right side. The right side of the straw roof ends with a piece of wood, which is also a part of the roof. Both the straw and the wood look slightly weathered by age. The straw is orange, the wood is gray. There's something green at the bottom of the image, but its too blurry to make out. The image has strong focus, causing everything other than the caterpillar to be blurry. The image is in vertical orientation. It's roughly the same spot as the previous image, but taken one day later. The camera angle isn't quite as sharp as before. The caterpillar has been replaced with a pupa. The pupa has sharp spikes on its back side. Its gray with a slight brown tint to it. The ends of the spikes are black. The blurry green thing from the previous image is slightly less blurry and can be identified. There's a window with green curtains at the bottom right corner of the image. There's a bit of blurry green light at the bottom left corner of the image. There's a bit of log wall visible at the bottom edge of the image. The logs have a slightly blueish tint to them.

A big fat monarch butterfly caterpillar cocoon. It is hard, shiny, and ridged, colored in seafoam green. It has a little black stem at the top and the wings are clearly visible against the shell. Watermark: http://hmcgill.art.
