I think Scully and Mulder make pretty good role models.
I wasn’t old enough to watch the X-Files as a kid, but if I had been, I think subconsciously the presence of one Dana Scully, a well-spoken, component scientist holding her own while investigating strange phenomena would have felt very empowering.
My mental model would have put her next to Dr.Crusher and Jadxia Dax, the doctor and the science officer.
Now, I can only guess because I’m not a dude, but I feel like Mulder is a pretty neat thing to aspire to. He’s handsome, he’s extremely capable and he’s so confident that he doesn’t care that people don’t believe him or are trying to discredit him.
He just keeps going from his office in the basement. Zero fucks given.
He’s not toxic. He’s just confident and he cares.
Pretty neat role models for both girls and boys, methinks.
