I didn't get to post this yesterday, but while I was listening to https://www.sciencefriday.com/ I always notice how the scientists being interviewed are SO GRATEFUL that the person interviewing them is a fucking science fan and is asking amazingly insightful questions. It really comes through the audio.

It also makes you wonder how shitty it must be talking to other journalists that are as uneducated in science as the general public.

I've known about micro-plastics in soil, water, air, and all living things for several years. Today I learned the active phrase for one modality is "plastic rain." Heard that on Science Friday today. The plastic bits are cloud condensation nuclei, replacing naturally occurring particulates. Here's a decent article on the subject.

昨晩ローラー台上で自転車を90分間漕いでいたらお尻ペタが痛くて、サドルに座るのが辛かった。風呂場で調べたら、ニキビの親玉みたいのでできてた。当面自転車は減らすべきかもしれない。

真っ暗で人通りない近所の川沿いの遊歩道を10キロ、畑の猫の光る眼に監視されながらゆったりと走る。今月は28日しかないので、できるだけ距離を稼いでおきたいのだが...

ポッドキャストは #ScienceFriday の我々の遠い祖先、アフリカで暮らしていたルーシーにランニングさせたら、という話が面白かった。40％の骨の化石から復元したルーシーを使ってシミュレーション。我々に比べ手が長く、足が短いルーシーは、ランニングは得意でなかったようだ。
