#microplastic

So, it's a bit old, but I never saw this coming.

It turns out not all #America #First #people are entirely #senseless when taking into consideration, #serious long term issues.

Specifically, things like a #environment #risk regarding #plastic and its more aptly named #microplastic variants.

According to this #research, the #science is saying that we have to take this a lot more seriously.

Now I am no #alarmist, but I do believe in medium term #red #alerts and this seems to be very much like one.

So were all the #climate #activist types right after all about an aggressive #carbon push to reduce it?

If the leading #might is #right voices are now admitting that this #doctrine as a #regime is now failing, with multiple levels of the #deception revealing and unveiling themselves piece by piece. We now stand at a very significant #crossroads as such.

As far as I know, #news wise this post is a bit old, but still highly relevant in the scientific discussion around #health and human well being. A topic of conversation that sstill peaks my #interest no matter who strategizes new theories upon it to date.

I'm all for saving the #planet but can we please agree to go all the way, and not say it's fine if we only do so in part?

Die Überschrift: "Humans: Is ist still safe to eat them?" Der Text darunter: "More and more dragons are complaining about poor tolerance because of increasing amounts of so-calles plastic that are found in them."

Just in case you're wondering, what the #EU Europeans are complaining about; These are attached #BottleCaps!

The pink one is a more sophisticated variant; Engineers call those "compliant mechanisms" - not, because they're legally compliant - they're mechanically pliable - it's got a satisfying snap-action - it snaps open.

The golden one, on the right, seems to be the type that gets everyone's blood boiling - it's VERY inconvenient/cumbersome!

European attached plastic bottle caps; comparing 2 types.
On the left/pink, the sophisticated solution, with an engineered satisfying snap-action.
On the right/gold, the "cheap"-est, most cumbersome/annoying solution - "well, it's attached, we're compliant, shut up". EDIT: this IS a biased example! I've already twisted, and bent, it into shape, to comply with MY PERSONAL requirements! It's been, and it'll always remain, a nuisance - this flavour of "attached bottle cap".

What #heresy is this - an un-attached "bottle cap"!? 😱

Is condense milk now exempt from this requirement? (Only in Germany?)

Just a few weeks ago, those caps were still attached! (certainly inconvenient, but reasonable - worthy trade-off, imho)

Do i not have enough #MicroPlastic in my Brainicles(brains/testicles), yet?

Don't get me wrong; i LOVE my #EU! 🇪🇺🥰 This European idea of peaceful cooperation is AMAZING - kinda feels like a #StarFleet beta version. 🖖🤓

This recently acquired "TetraPak" of condense milk doesn't have a European "attached bottle cap"! I've bought this one in Germany, at Aldi Nord. Just a few weeks ago, those HAD attached caps! I remember the reasonable inconvenience quite clearly.

Researchers from the University Medical Center Utrecht found that immune cells exposed to nanoplastics die three times faster than normal.
When immune cells weaken or die prematurely, the body loses its ability to fight infections effectively.
At the same time, inflammation spreads more easily throughout the body.

Researchers issue warning after making grim #Antarctic discovery: 'We are only beginning to understand'

Story by Daysia Tolentino, January 29, 2026

Excerpt: "A study published in the journal #Biocontaminant examined the effects of #GlacialMelting on our #WaterSupply.

"#Glaciers serve as reservoirs for #AntibioticResistanceGenes, or #ARGs, and other #microbes. When they are released from the ice, they enter our water systems, posing a major health risk to people downstream.

"Millions of people get their water from glacier-fed rivers and lakes. ARGs are strands of DNA that make bacteria more resistant to drugs. When ARGs in #meltwater make their way into our water supply, they become a global public health risk.

"The study emphasizes the importance of viewing glaciers, rivers, and lakes as being part of a 'glacier continuum.' This means they are an interconnected system rather than separate environments.

Why are melting glaciers concerning?

"From our gas-powered cars to #overconsumption, human activity has contributed to the production of heat-trapping gases that warm the planet. Rising global temperatures have caused glaciers to rapidly melt, causing elevated sea levels and releasing ARGs.

"ARGs from melting glaciers are worrisome because they help facilitate the spread of diseases. This threat is compounded by the fact that our growing #microplastic problem is also helping #AntibioticResistant #bacteria breed. As a result, #medicines are being rendered less effective."

2025 was a year of extraordinary moments. My practice in focussed on the complexation of technologies and landscapes through water and I am looking forward to continuing this thread this year.

I’m very grateful to all my collaborators, producers and team for bringing these works to realisation and amplifying their impact.

This week, I’m sharing a look back, and a hint of what’s to come in 2026. Stay tuned.
