I know I should focus on making music, but I'm currently not in the position to spend more money on an album cover, so I'm trying to do it myself for my #Solarpunk project. Below is my progress, assembled with blosm, a couple of Kitbash 3D buildings that were on sale, free resources and a few pieces modeled by myself. Next week I'm going to improve church buildings, sea foam and the water color, and give it a more painterly look.

Komm und schnapp sie dir: Pokemon ist inzwischen das größte Medienfranchise der Welt. Als Nintendo-Gamer und Kind der 90er hat Pokemon trotz aller Kommerzialisierung einen festen Platz in meinem Herzen. Viele Aspekte der Spiele, Serien und Filme haben dabei Solarpunk-Vibes.

Interessanterweise diskutieren schon seit einer Weile Menschen vor allem auf reddit, tumblr und in manchen Podcasts, ob Pokemon nicht auch Solarpunk sein könnte. Sie führen dafür einige gute Argumente ins Spiel: In den Spielen gibt es fast ausschließlich erneuerbare Energiequellen, Fahrräder und Zeppeline gehören zu den Haupttransportmitteln, Das Gesundheitssystem ist für alle kostenlos; Ökologie und Zusammenleben mit der Natur ist ein Kernthema, und große Teile der Welt wurden der Natur überlassen, in der vor allem wilde Pokemon leben. Außerdem sind die Menschen in dieser Welt so freundlich und leben so sicher, dass sie jederzeit Fremde in ihr Haus lassen, und dass auch schon 10-jährige (wie die Hauptperson) ohne Bedenken in die Welt hinausgeschickt werden können.

Alles schön und gut – nur leider besteht die zentrale Spielmechanik darin, denkende und fühlende Wesen anzugreifen, einzufangen und dann gegen andere kämpfen zu lassen. Viel weniger Solarpunk wird es nicht. Bis jetzt.

Denn ein Fan-Projekt hat es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, innerhalb der Pokemon-Welt eine Region zu erschaffen, in der Geld der Vergangenheit angehört, alle Grundbedürfnisse erfüllt werden – und Pokemon als Personen anerkannt werden, die selbst über ihr Leben entscheiden. Auch über Pokemon hinaus ist Fan-Fiction wie diese IMO eine großartige Möglichkeit, Solarpunk-Ideen zu verbreiten.

I'm trying to involve the network of eco-social collectives, along with universities and video game companies, all local, to take the digital twin of my city, Seville, and gamify it as a prototype for a multiplayer Solarpunk City-Builder Serious Game Edutainment (CRPG-LARP XR). This involves community brainstorming ideas and adapting ones from the board game Zapatista Autonomy to build, through quests, Solarpunk Seville, the eco-metropolis we want (and the parallel law that would regulate it). That's why I propose the game be called LAWCRAFT: Forks the Law into a Solarpunk one; and to use an AGPLv3 License.

I kinda wonder if you're going through the same pipeline I did.

Where initially I was looking for "city builder but solarpunk and bicycles" but found what I *actually* want is "resource management for a community, but you're incentivized to balance your production to your needs, and disincentivized from overproduction".

and like, both of those are niche genres atm, but they're distinct.

I've found Arcs (board game) and Against the Storm (video game) scratch the second itch well, because it's not really possible to snowball to complete control - only to keep responding to your environment in more complex ways.

🪰 This very small fly landed on my finger last summer. Look at the bands on its tiny, tiny wings.

📷 Pic is a little blurry (had to use one hand quickly to get the shot), but it looks like a "biting midge" (Culicoides spp.). They need a better publicist, evidently.

🍂 It's one of a population in the thick layer of decaying leaves being used as a natural mulch nearby. Bugs like these are what Brown Thrashers and other birds are after when they are looking through leaves for food. We can support declining bird populations by just keeping leaves on the ground or as mulch in beds.
