Aside from quitting their job, what people in this situation can do in their out-of-workplace mode to contribute to systemic change, if in a country without #Codetermination [1] or with a weak tradition of cooperatives [2][3], is join orgs/networks that campaign for legislation for codetermination, cooperatives, other #WorkplaceDemocracy [4].

I'm having a new personal vendetta with #linkedin . Only posting #leftwing points there. Done by an LLM because fight fire with fire.

Example of today:
We're quick to innovate on technology, but why are we so slow to innovate on how we organize our people?

The traditional top-down corporate structure often feels like it's from a different century. I believe the future of work is more democratic, transparent, and equitable.

Imagine organizations where:

Value is shared more broadly with those who create it.

Decisions are made with input from those who are most affected by them.

Success is defined not just by a stock price, but by the health and sustainability of the entire organization—its workers, its community, and its environment.

This isn't a utopian fantasy. Co-ops, B-Corps, and forward-thinking companies are already proving that you can be both principled and profitable. They show that giving people real agency isn't a cost; it's your greatest competitive advantage.

It's time to stop seeing people as resources to be managed and start seeing them as partners in the mission. How can we start building more economic democracy within our existing systems?

“Rather than getting the requisite training and having to fend for oneself in the job hunt and at work, unionized staffing cooperatives like AlliedUP can offer workers not only better pay and benefits, but an integrated network of resources, potential advocates for their rights and their careers, and a measure of democratic agency.”

Save the date: 21 January 2025 - Debate on Workplace Democracy at @universityofgroningen Studium Generale, with philosopher @LisaHerzog, #FNV #union member Tuur Elzinga and Manuel Reyes (@manu)

Most people would agree that the only legitimate form of government is democracy. Yet, when most of us go to work we enter a world that is rather undemocratic. But why shouldn't the workplace also be a democracy?

“‘I don’t think you solve the systemic economic problems just with worker co-ops,’ [John Duda of @redemmas] says. ‘There needs to be a larger context in which worker co-ops are embedded — a larger fight. But I think there’s something really important and really precious about worker co-ops as a laboratory or a kind of learning.’”

Yet another argument for workplace democracy. These decisions don't need to be made by a management elite and imposed on workers. In fact, there's boatloads of evidence that companies become more resilient and productive when workers make decisions together about how our own workplaces function.

The 1993 book Maverick by Ricardo Semler offer a fantastically detailed case study. As does Companies We Keep by John Abrams.
