So is anybody using #zvault instead of #truenas?
I want to redo my NAS-Setup soon & was wandering if there is a truenas successor or if I have to look at #xigmanas instead?

I require my NAS to be BSD-Based and I'm not sure if I have the time to just role plain freebsd and get the health monitoring and all right withing a sensable amount of time.

More important to have a stable thing running then the most minimal thing I can build.

I was looking for the original distribution of freeNAS. Luckily #DuckDuckGo never disappoints and I found XigmaNAS fast.

No commercial stuff. Pure Xigma implementation of the ZFS distro under *BSD running on your own hardware. Get enough RAM!

@vermaden Thanks for the insights. Through the years, I went through #truenas plugin system, iocages, the web interface that looks nice but breaks weirdly, not to speak of the pc-bsd project. All in all, I'd rather now go and try #xigmanas or a vanilla server than follow them in their new linux adventure.

@claudiom Quite the bummer. Kinda figured this would happen as well. Not sure what, if any migration may exist to move to #XigmaNAS...

At this point, I've got to make a decision: go to #omniosce or #freebsd...

After @iXsystems disappointments with #PCBSD or #TrueOS they now plan to do the same with #FreeNAS successor #TrueNAS. Being #FreeBSD based was ONLY reason I recommended it.

@alexhaydock Such a shame. Is there any project for a #FreeBSD NAS that still exists? #XigmaNAS seems to have still some activity?
