#raspi4 Server mit #nixos läuft super inzwischen. Verbindung zu meinem #wireguard server steht und fungiert als Gateway zu meinem Heimnetz.

Aktuelle Baustelle gerade: #argonone Gehäuselüfter

Der argononed.service startet beim Booten, setzt sich jedoch jedes Mal auf die Default Werte zurück. Um eine Überhitzung zu vermeiden, muss ich die letzten Tage, nach jedem Neustart einmal angepasste Werte per "argonone-cli" command setzen. Das nervt...suche noch nach ´ner Lösung.

So, ich konnte mich mal mit dem #raspi4 im #argonone Gehäuse mit 1TB #nvme beschäftigen. #nixos ist installiert und ich konnte mich bereits um die ArgonOne Steuerung des Lüfters und des Power Buttons kümmern.

Da ich bei der Installation mit einer MicroSD angefangen habe und sie erst nach ein paar Konfigurationsschritten per dd auf die NVMe SSD kopiert habe, ist mein NixOS System auf der 1TB NVMe jetzt nur 32GB „groß“.

Wie komme ich denn *the-nixos-way* aus der Nummer wieder raus? 😅

Neue Samsung 990 PRO #NVMe SSD 1TB ist bestellt.

Alles per dd rüber, Partitionen und FS anpassen, und gut ist?

Sollte ich bei der Gelegenheit vielleicht gleich auf #NixOS wechseln? Obwohl ich das bisher nur zum Kennenlernen und Rumspielen nutze?

This weekend I upgraded the Raspberry Pi that hosts my Mastodon instance and Home Assistant (among other services) with an NVMe drive. Previously it was using an old mechanical USB hard drive, so the performance increase with the NVMe is huge!

It runs a bit hotter than with the microSD card + external HDD, but it's nice to have everything in one case without worrying about SD card wear anymore.

I also finally got around to upgrading from Ubuntu 20.04 to Ubuntu 22.04, just in time for the next LTS release later this year.

SO, #ArgonONE cases.

Ngl, kiiiiiinda overrated imo. Sure they look cool and seem uber durable, but you lose out on easy HAT mount points and if you don't have means to cool them, be it internally or externally, then the #Pi4 likes to malfunction/overheat in my experience. This is made worse when the thing needs a special driver which has a 50/50 shot of working on your system, or the alternative custom script which has yet to work for my purposes.

The #DeskPi Lite case on the other hand works fantastically!..at least until I tried experimenting on the heatsink it came with. Considering selling off the Argon ONE case and buying the NEO with its compatible fan HAT for the sake of making prototyping much easier, and so I can FINALLY use some HAT's on the 4 B.

Project Black-fire is not dead yet, only dormant.

Got this little fellow, an Argon One M.2 the other day, and looking to set up a few services on my Lan. Still waiting for a few things to arrive. Intrigued by #CasaOS but have zero knowledge about #Docker. I played around a little on an old #RaspberryPi 3 over the weekend just to familiarise myself a bit, but after installing a few docker apps the whole thing froze. I've used #Linux for years, I'm just a regular user, not a Dev or sysadmin, but projects like this can be fun.

I just got my first #ArgonOne case base for an #NVME drive , and discovered it's got multiple times the performance my old Argon One case #SATA drive bases.

It's like the bases for SATA drives are only USB 2 speed even though they plug into USB 3 ports.

Anyone else notice behavior?

Looking for an M.2 SATA drive to go with the Argon One M.2 expansion board.

Has to be SATA and not NVMe :|

Amazing how difficult it is to find listings on Amazon that are actually SATA and not NVMe.

I'm not sure of the brands of the ones I have found.

Does anybody have an brand recommendations for M.2 SATA drives?

Well I have been putting all this together to take over the roll of what current #RPi3B+ so to that can be used with #AllStar node.

The only way could get #RPi4B was buying it in a kit, but turns out the #ArgonOne is rather nice case with expansion board. It will take over and have a pressure breakout connected to the GPIO and a USB #RTLSDR dongle attached to receive data via #RTL_433 from the WX outdoor unit.

Hab mir das Script kurz angeschaut - kann es sein, dass es sich nur auf richtigen Desktops (Raspbian & Ubuntu) installieren lässt? 🤔Zumindest kommen Abfragen bzgl. diesen Desktops vor, ansonsten sieht es sehr nach Terminalausgaben aus.
