“When the BCA came to the scene,

making sure that we’re pushing for transparency every step of the way.”

“The fact that Pam Bondi’s Department of Justice and this presidential administration has already come to a conclusion about those facts is deeply concerning,” he added.
Media reports have identified the agent who shot Good as Jonathan Ross. ICE agents allowed Ross to #leave the scene in the moments after the shooting, taking the weapon used in the shooting with him.
“It doesn’t preclude a state investigation, but if the feds are saying, for example, you don’t even get to look at the firearm that was used to kill this person, that would certainly complicate it,”
said #Eric J #Nelson, a defense attorney in Minneapolis with a long record of defending police officers accused of crimes.
Nelson represented Derek Chauvin in his murder trial for killing Floyd.

The legal standard for proving a case of excessive force rests on the
🔹“objective reasonableness” of the act as given in the
🔹"Graham v Connor" case decided by the US supreme court in 1989.

From that case flows policies governing when and how police officers can use force.
The standards are essentially the same for both state and federal prosecutions, he said.

The breakdown in cooperation between state and federal agencies in this investigation is “shocking”, Nelson said,
and flies in the face of the public’s expectations of legal norms.

“There may be political differences, but ultimately in a question in a case like this, I don’t really think politics should have a place,” he said.

‘Missed opportunity’ is also the reaction of the Business Council of Australia who say the reforms won’t deliver “transformational economic change”.

BCA chief executive, Bran Black, says the business group has supported reform to the environment protection and biodiversity conservation act (EPBC), but raised concern that the agreed upon position still contains “ambiguity and risk, which may shut out projects before a proper assessment”.

In a statement, Black says:

We have always said a sensible, stable reform backed by both major parties is what we need if Australia is to deliver the energy and renewables, critical minerals and infrastructure projects that underpin productivity and living standards.

Our concern with this package, as it stands, is that there’s lots more work to do to deliver a net benefit for business and the economy.

He also adds that the BCA does not support the concession to the Greens that prevents gas projects from being approved through “streamlined pathways”.

Swansea curry house crowned ‘Restaurant of the Year’

An acclaimed Bangladeshi restaurant in Swansea has been named the 2025 Restaurant of the Year at a prestigious awards ceremony.

Rose Indienne in St Helens Road, Swansea was crowned Restaurant of the Year for the Wales region at a star-studded ceremony held at Park Plaza hotel in Westminster, London on Sunday, 9 November.

Meanwhile, Indian Empire in Crick, Caldicot was named the winner for the South Wales region

The ceremony marked the 65th anniversary of the Bangladesh Caterers Association, with industry professionals celebrating the impact of the organisation since it was formed in 1960 while shaping the future for decades to come.

Owner of Rose Indienne, Mohammed Abdul Motlib, said:

“We are delighted to be recognised by the Bangladesh Caterers Association and are so proud to have won this award against some of the region’s greatest curry houses.”

Rose Indienne is one of 13 regional restaurants to have been honoured across the country at the glittering awards ceremony, attended by a host of prominent MPs and ministers including Sir Stephen Timms Seema Malhotra, Mike Reader and Kevin Bonavia.
