The #convent of Igreja Paroquial de Santo Agostinho a Marvila was founded in 1660 and handed over to the English nuns of the Order of Saint Savior of Brígidas who arrived in Lisbon in 1594, fleeing #HenryVIII

Construction on the #baroque building began in 1661. The earthquake of 1755 caused considerable damage.

When Francisco Pizarro separated from his common-law wife, Quispe Sisa, he gave their 2 kids to his sister-in-law, Inés Muñoz, to raise. Quispe Sisa's son died young & the girl was exiled to Spain aged 18.

In 1573, after Inés had been widowed a 2nd time, her only son fell seriously ill.

A Spanish chronicler claims that her son dreamt that he saw his mother & other women dressed as nuns...
