Oh dear, I just bought a new very basic Dell wired keyboard, and it came with a fscking Copilot key! When even the cheapest most basic tech goes AI we really are doomed.

Chat what should I bind the #CopilotKey aka `XF86Assistant` aka `Super+Shift+F23` aka `Super+Shift+XF86TouchpadOff` (lol) to?
Maybe something ridiculous? Or another Super key? Hyper? `espeak-ng -v Swedish "Blåhaj"`?
Make it fun, make it useful, your choice.
Every device advertised with "#AI" od having a "#CopilotKey" gets instantly put on the "never ever buy!"-List…
You know what I want instead?
#Linux support - and I mean fully!
#Keyboards with
#Trackpoints!
#RepairableTech
instead of AntiRepairDesign!
Me too
Which is why I have a second hand business think pad, I5 processor 8GB Ram, antiX linux great performance.
And tough.

@saramg in fact, anything that has "#AI" in it's marketing/advertising or a #CopilotKey on it's keyboard won't be bought by me!
@ra1n true, true...
@maxleibman because they want to violate #ISO standards again.
But yeah, the #CopilotKey is as annoying if not more than the #PizzaKey by virtue of being in the way of #productivity.
TBH, I think the #CopilotKey is worse than the #PizzaKey because #Netpliance #iOpener didn't force that shit onto other users.
Simply because one doesn't expect that #Internet #Terminal to be used as a #desktop.

@anagnostes @Cheatha Seriously, I want that unsarcastically.
The Super-Key at least didn't change the existing layouts, see #Terminal122 vs. #PC122 Keyboards...
@tante not only that, but I literally will refuse to buy, sell, use or even look at any device eith a "#CopilotKey" and/or marketed as #Copilot+ or having #Windows11 preinstalled to begin with!
If I had the €€€€€€ necessary to do it I'd start an #upcycling business (likely as cooperative) just to collect all the #surplus'd machines and put modern #Linux on them and sell those at rock-bottom pricing.
@babble_endanger #MSWindows11 Pro has the option to do nothing (though pressing [Copilot] key brings the setting menu about it that nothing has been set to run *groan*).
Does AutoHotKey make [Copilot] key do absolutely nothing?
@xgranade personally, I'll refuse to buy anything with #NPU, #Copilot or #CopilotKey on as a matter of principle.
Soon you’ll be able to remap the Copilot key on Windows PCs
When Microsoft announced that most new keyboards for Windows PCs would feature a dedicated Copilot key, a lot of people remained unconvinced that it was a good idea to add a key for a single feature that many folks don’t plan on using.
Now Microsoft has announced that it’s begun rolling out an update to Windows Insiders that makes it possible to remap the Copilot key so that it can be used […]

So I just got a new laptop. Everything seemed okay check the hardware and the specs and never thought to look much at the keyboard itself.
Right control notable for allowing people use commands such as ctrl alt delete with one hand and if you happened to use dvorak a whole bunch more such as copy and paste.
It isn't that hard to restore right control to its place. (See picture and reply)
@GossiTheDog TBH, I think #CopilotKey and other bs imare clear "#WontBuy" signs for me!
@hierarchon so what?
Keys #F1-#F24 & #PF1-#PF12 are standardized and on a real 100% board like the #ModelM #Terminal & #Unicomp #PC122 you'll have these...
Alongsite with the usually misnamed #SuperKey, the #Copilot - #Key should've never been allowed or even implemented into existance!
@gnuplusmatt TBH, I'll not only refuse to use any debive with a #CopilotKey but will demand the #WindowsKey logo to be replaced with a #SuperKey...
@sabi jokes aside: Does the #CopilotKey also output #F23 on #Linux?
xenv or a keyboard testing tool?@sabi Interesting...
Personally, I'd rather want a Keyboard with 24 F-Keys, 12 PF-Keys and a #UltraNav-Style #Trackpoint instead if a #CopilotKey & #Trackpad...
