My obsession with #MCP servers continues. And like many of my obsessions, I love finding ways in which they intersect with other obsessions (hello, #Observability). I decided to leverage the #Dynatrace MCP server to use natural language to query #OpenTelemetry data in Dynatrace. End result? Well, you’ll need to read the blog post!

I'm a big believer that we can get more value from #Observability data if our main #OpenTelemetry signals (traces, logs, metrics) are stored in the same backend for analysis. Check out my latest post on the #dynatrace blog in which I explore the topic of unified #o11y.

Is there an on-premise, open source option for a monitoring/telemetry platform comparable* to say New Relic or Dynatrace with an approachable query language?
Is Prometheus+Grafana pretty much it?
Simpler the better, approachable for a casual user (i.e. curious non-technical tenants) would be great.
* Caveats for "comparable" apply!
