The Far North, stretching across the northern tip of Northland, is arguably the most spectacular section of the coastal highway—the only road connecting Kaitaia to Cape Reinga. Our first stop was Rarawa Beach, near the Ngataki community. Having visited before, I was eager to return and capture the beauty of its striking white sand. This hidden gem boasts pristine, textured dunes that make it truly unforgettable.

I decided to make this image a panorama to highlight the horizontal orientation of the dune that leads towards the ocean.

New screening measures at Timmins airport to deter drug smuggling in the far north
As of Jan. 20, the baggage and personal items of passengers on northbound flights will be screened for narcotics, in addition to the usual screening for weapons and safety threats. The new initiative comes at the request of the Mushkegowuk Council.
