Therapy actually wasn't a shit show.

I wanted to talk about the anxiety I was feeling about visiting Greg in January, particularly around food and body image. It's something that I noticed last time I visited - his wife does keto and is very strict about it, and I found that was triggering for me and raising all these fears and anxieties that he would see what I was eating and judge me for that.

We talked about how I can feel the dissonance between what I believe with my logical thoughts and what deep wounds I was carrying from childhood.

We talked about things I can do more short term to help make sure I enjoy my time with Greg, and then also made plans to start EMDR when I get back to reprocess some of the trauma I carry around food and my body.

Two weeks ago, I attended CALC, conference to discuss critical practice in libraries. It is based in the UK so that meant some early mornings for me here in Iowa, US. One of the sessions I was most excited about was Friendly, Radical, Ambivalent: Fat Librarians and Professional Identity by Meg Galasso. I have seen Meg present before, and she contributed a chapter to Well-Being in the Library Workplace: A Handbook for Managers. I ordered underwear from BrasNThings the other week, and discovered they had a 40% off sale a few days later. So I ordered everything again, with plans to take the first order back when it arrived.

Now, everything has arrived and I'm so tempted to keep it all because it's all so cute and I very rarely get to wear underwear that makes me feel cute. Usually fat people underwear is ugly or uncomfortable, and this is all pretty and comfy.

They're all french knickers, and are so frilly and pretty.. and I want to keep them! 😭😭

I just did an anonymous phone survey for NSW health, that's used in planning services available in different areas.

I was completely open and honest when they asked about my illicit drug use, and totally lied about the amount of exercise I (don't) do and the amount of soda I (do) drink 😂

Also, my honesty about mental health stuff had her asking if I needed support numbers. "No, it's ok.. I'm very well supported in my craziness"

One of my favourite things to do is to make jokes about my fatness that don't have me/my fatness as the punchline, because it subverts the expectation that fat people should be silent about our bodies.

Like, I commented on a post on Fetlife earlier today and the OP responded "thanks for weighing in". To which I replied "are you calling me fat?".

I mean, I thought it was hilarious.

So every time I used sucralose at work to sweeten my tea or the occasional coffee and when I had my fries, I was totally fucking up my intestines with sucralose. Eventually I developed #Leakygut and now I'm #allergic to ketchup. Everytime I have some, my gut gets #inflamed. This stuff could be the culprit for #fatness, #heart #desease and #Parkinson's it's bad

I can't help but think abt how the 00s fashion revival is gonna effect fat kids and teens. I hated living thru the low rise pants with slightly cropped top era so fucking much as an even slightly chubby kid. Hopefully this time around, there's less severe fatphobia owning the zeitgeist but I know that despite how far we've come, it's not remotely far enough.
