Facebook Messenger has been design to read your text, even if you disable the feature for Messenger to function as your default text manager.

You can test this yourself, by adding yourself to your phone's contact list, and sending yourself a text on your phone (not using Facebook Messenger), about painting and other DYI projects, and eventually Meta will show you ads for DYI projects.
