I’d go straight for replacing the LED for a red one. Find one with same/similar power and exchange them in place.
Soldering is not as challenging as it may sound and it’s a super useful skill to acquire. So many things can be fixed with the touch of a hot iron. 😁
This is how I spent my day.
Around 5 hours gone, just trying to patch 2 feet of drain pipe.
It should not have taken this long, but it took three attempts.
Manchmal sind es die Kleinigkeiten, die besonders ärgerlich sind. Hatte mir vor ein paar Tagen versehentlich zwei der runden Kunststoffbeine meines PC-Gehäuses abgebrochen. Es handelt sich um ein - inzwischen wohl ziemlich seltenes, weil nicht mehr erhältliches - Thermaltake Level 20 VT für MicroATX Mainboards. Glücklicherweise konnte ich über eBay Kleinanzeigen doch noch ein paar Ersatzteile ergattern, sodass mein Gaming PC nun auch wieder vernünftig gerade stehen kann. Hurrah! 😜😎

Heck and dang. We spotted a leaking crack in the main drain pipe - thankfully upstream of the bathroom - while in the crawl space to winterize the house. It's 1-1/2" copper tubing and I wanted to avoid having to cut & sweat pipe so I got one of those pipe bandage kits. As I'm working the epoxy into the crack, I grip a portion of the pipe a few inches up and my fingers go through the bottom of it.
Looks like I'll be cutting & sweating pipe after all...
Giving it a quick lookover, the body of the saw is held together by about a dozen screws. I take off the blade, remove the screws, and find no obvious problems inside. The wiring is all intact and all the connectors appear to be well-seated. I see the trigger actuates a lever which presses against a contact switch to turn on the motor. I plug the saw back in and manually depress the switch, and the motor spins up.

Today's most fulfilling task was: swapping the broken wheels of the dishwasher basket by the new ones that arrived during one of my many meetings (spent about 6,5h in meetings in a 9h work day...)

"multiple ways to use drones and graphics tablets in community centres" (like delivering medication -- icr the podcast but I think it was a BBC one about "Future Perfect" or global health? or letting people use them to draw, learn 3D modelling, practice animation, sign documents, etc.

I actually managed to find some replacement belts for my og breadmaker. It's been on my to-do list for awhile. I got another one gifted to me due to the previous owner not using it anymore/downsizing earlier this year. Been using that one for a good bit of time now. The belts arrived today, so naturally installed it. My og breadmaker has new life and now...I'm unstoppable in making all of the loaves! Fixing simple things like this makes my day.
Konnte diese Nacht mal wieder nicht pennen. Hab dann die Stille genutzt, um an meiner Radioreparatur weiter zu arbeiten. Aus zwei halb kaputten RFT Stern "Party" Radios hab ich ein funktionierendes zusammengesetzt. Nu läufts wieder. Jetzt muss ich nur noch alles sauber machen. :)
Aber erstmal 'ne Runde schlafen... 😴
Hab die letzten drei Tage eine Nähmaschine repariert und wieder gängig gemacht.
Ölen, sauber machen und ein Teil musste bissl mechanisch bearbeitet werden.
Jetzt läuft sie wieder! ☺️

Reworking electronics for someone else is nerve wracking enough without a MASSSSSIIIVEEEE groundplane making de-soldering that much harder. I ended up mechanically destroying the parts I removed to make their extraction more possible. Soldering in new ones takes seconds compared with the half hour to safely extract the old buggers. #electronics #rework #FixingStuff
Finally working on my bicycle again. ☺️
After some work at the chainguard i now have to get the chain in the right length. Hopefully @lbehm can guide me through. 🤞

It started with a storm month ago and ended at fixing 30y old wood saw.
The storm knocked dog house roof over and inside got wet.
Today I replaced pine needles (dog's favourite sleeping matress) and spotted rotten floor.
Replaced one of the floor pillars and tried to cut new one. The saw cable failed. Dissasembled it, replaced the cable and greased the moving parts. After 30 years, no signs of wear.
Finally, fixed the house. Dog happy.

I really like the YouTube channel Electrician U. I'm no electrician, but I can pretend to be by watching this channel. I can at least intelligently troubleshoot wiring issues, and test things now. Lower voltage and Amps (like the kind that would hurt for a little bit, but not kill you). Plus I have a lot of the tools he has recommended and they totally were worth it.
I did figure out why the digital readout doesn't work on channel 2. Turns out that's by design, as the digital board is only attached to channel 1 (on the left).
