Wow, #Verizon has been really pushing the #Google #Pixel10. Getting almost daily notifications on both my smartphone and flip phone.

Bombarding my flip phone with weekly texts about upgrading *since* I bought the device over a year ago is amusing since the whole point of buying it was to....not use a smartphone. 🤣🤦‍♂️

There are some quirks with my smartphone, Kyocera DuraForce Ultra, and definitely some battery life issues. It's MIL-SPEC and tough as nails. Given how expensive electronics have become, I plan on holding onto this until it gives up the ghost.

About a month before solstice, I finally got my flip phone working with my mobile carrier. The results have been ... mixed. Let's start with positives;

* I can respond to texts without any risk of getting distracted by other notifications

* I can be contacted in an emergency, without having to carry a touchscreen computer

* I can flatten the battery of my pocket tablet, eg by listening to podcasts or watching videos, and still receive calls and texts

I've been on #vacation since last #Friday and I don't return to #work until #January 2nd. Two weeks of decompressing and spending time with my #wife #son and #pets.

I'm also taking a (massive) break from #socialmedia and anything to do with the news, politics, current events, etc. Lastly, I've left the smartphone in my drawer and have been using my #flipphone exclusively.

It's fucking glorious and I totally needed this.
