The ZX Spectrum was launched 1983 as #Timex Sinclair 2068 computer on the US market. With a #Z80A CPU running on 3.5 MHz this beautiful #homecomputer was capable to draw electric images on a regular telly. With a resolution of 256×192 #pixels even limited to 15 colours it was great for the budget.

Print'n'Plotter sold their #graphics software under the same product name #Paintbox like #Quantel, but for #Sinclair #homecomputers. While #colourClash was a serious limitation in the 80s, it's a #8bit #cgi #glitch effect today available in smartphone camera apps.

Simultaneously, IBM built a team of young talented engineers in Boca Raton, Florida, to develop a #microcomputer in secrecy, and fast! Somehow, directors #WilliamLowe & #PhilipDonEstridge made a decision under pressure that turned out to be great for the entire market, not their employer exclusively.
Considering the time (and #$hits) given, it's only logical that they relied heavily on free available components instead of own #chipdesigns. But somehow, the lack of #IP passed their lawyers and IP team before #InternationalBusinessMachines went public.

Some days ago I wrote an article for the RETURN #RetroComputing magazine about abbreviation methods in different #BASIC dialects. The Pecom 32 and Galaksija #HomeComputers hold two new forms: PR for PRINT (Pecom 32) and # for DATA (Galaksijan):
FRAK ("List Fakultetskog Racunardskog Kluba Fakulteta Graditeljskih Znanosti Sveucilista u Rijeci") was the first jugoslawian Computer Fanzine - made by students of engineering at the University in Rijeka in 1982 (until at leat 1985) for mostly HP and TI Calculators, #ZXSpectrum, #SharpMZ and other #HomeComputers with a built-in #BASIC. It is not digitazed and archived online yet ... 13 issues are stored in PEEK&POKE's magazine archive as #PaperWare.
