Ik heb iets leuks ontdekt: het Open Library project. Het doel: "One web page for every book ever published". Een index van boeken dus, maar een groot deel van deze boeken kan je ook online lezen of lenen als e-book. Iedereen kan er aan bijdragen. Dus ik heb zojuist een van mijn favoriete boeken van vroeger toegevoegd 🙂
De site is openlibrary.org voor als het je ook leuk lijkt.

@libri @cultura sono passata da GoodReads a #OpenLibrary da un po' di tempo ormai... Leggo regolarmente in due lingue (italiano e francese). Uso OpenLibrary soprattutto come catalogo personale, metto una valutazione qualitativa ma non faccio commenti. Argomenti per passare a bookwyrm? Nel caso, è possibile importare i dati di OpenLibrary verso bookwyrm?

Llevaba tiempo sin usar #OpenLibrary. Ahora no te enlaza a los libros en el archivo, sino en bibliotecas ajenas. Un alivio perder la comodidad de leer directamente en lugar de contemplar que tienen el libro en otro continente. 😅

Mayo es el mes del libro en Uruguay, y para esta #EdiciónFediverso de #LaSopranoHungara dejo aquí el link a la versión epub (libro electrónico y #prosereader) y pdf para pequeñas pantallas.

Me legra decir que, sin ningún esfuerzo por hacerlo, el libro pasa el test de Bechdel-Wallace.

La historia principal es una crónica no lineal que sigue las armonías disonantes de La Traviata.

Esta estructura obliga a quien lee a convertirse en investigador/a, descifrando una conspiración que el texto rehúsa descifrar.

Es una obra de ficción histórica que abarca espionaje, tráfico de armas y encubrimientos gubernamentales en Sudamérica y Europa durante las guerras yugoslavas.

El tono de la prosa (fechas, decretos, números de serie) agudiza el horror, haciendo que la muerte de la soprano húngara no parezca ficción, sino el aria más oscura de la historia.

Seis partes más integran el libro, que abarca #fanatismo, #prejuicio (algunas el propio de quien lee), #misterio, #psicodelia, #viajes, #alcoholismo, #amistad, #áfrica, #trans, #MédicosSinFronteras, #sudamérica, #Brasil, #tarot, #Uruguay, #libros y más.

In my log of books I've read, I always preferred to link to the corresponding Wikipedia page if available, then with fallbacks, which felt not great.

Wikipedia's barrier to entry felt unnecessarily large for what felt like small potatoes (basic book entries).

A few days ago, I discovered https://openlibrary.org (by the Internet Archive!)

I logged in with my #InternetArchive account and began updating/editing entries.

This definitely feels like the right place for contributions. #OpenLibrary

I keep testing #Goodreads alternatives but am struggling to find anything that is as good.
- #Bookwyrm is open has a data problem and feels inflexible (plus bad UI/X).
- #StoryGraph has bad UI/X and isn’t open either.
- #LibraryThing has recently closed their API.
- #OpenLibrary’s data can be so erratic but being an Internet Archive project seems the most attractive …
