🪟 Trying out IceWM — might just leave TWM behind...😅

@r1w1s1

Oh man, I remember using #twm 33 years ago!
Good times.

I found peace with #twm very minimal but it's mouse centric I did like #dwm which is very nice.

fishriotwm

twm configuration with plan9's rio window-border operations and default cwm keybindings

(It's basically cwm that you can also use with just a mouse)

Just shared a glimpse of my desktop setup over on https://deskto.ps!
Currently rocking a cool bitmap wallpaper from the bitmap-walls(https://github.com/dkeg/bitmap-walls) collection
something about those simple patterns just clicks for me.

Plus, everything feels so snappy with my trusty TWM. What does your desktop look like?

Day 06 of #31DaysOfFreeBSD :freebsd:

Installed the `xorg` metapackage, a bit of configuring, and `startx` into the included TWM window manager.

Onward!

I finally managed to organize my keybindings. Some were scattered across my TWM config, but I decided to centralize everything
in .xbindkeysrc for simplicity.

I also compiled a few packages from SlackBuilds for Slackware, including guile 2.2, xbindkeys, brightnessctl, and dmenu.

Here the file :)

Still setting up my #FreeBSD #Xorg Desktop PC and I've got #Xterm just how I like it for now with my favourite theme gruvbox. Strangely enough I'm still running the default #Twm as I haven't yet installed a tiling wm like #Herbstluftwm . This feels like the late 80's earlier 90's and I'm having fun learning new stuff even though I used to use Xorg for years before #Wayland . I mean I never ever thought I'd like Xterm but it's way more lightweight and powerfull than I ever gave it credit for.

Tiling window manager users on #YouTube:

"Look, I can open all these windows and the #WM just sorts it for me automatically!"

[windows get smaller and smaller until they're beyond unusable]

And the point of that is...? 🤷

Hi David, using #twm with vdesk + xterm (tmux) basically

My repo -> https://git.sr.ht/~r1w1s1/dotfiles. I have the .twmrc file and other customization.

I'm not alone using #twm :) I'm still using Linux.

Great benefit of going on your is being able to have full access to your web over experimental or retro . I just did a merry status update on mine. From . Running on in running on top of in running on low end tablet. And yes, you can have decent user experience on mouse oriented system without a mouse using just trackpad / touchscreen.

So, merry Solstice. May your knitting and your code flow freely.

Apparently rebooting fixes the discrepancy between reported versions. Who'd have thunk? 🤦‍♂️

has breathed new life into this ancient . Switched from to and surfing the with .

Admittedly I did cheat and replace the 5,400 RPM hard drive with a 1TB SSD. I'm not masochistic enough for that, particularly when I had something exponentially better on hand. 😆

So I just wrote myself a kb language layout indicator for to complement my setup and status panel while at it. This thing seems quite useful. Yay me :toot:

Gosh I needed such a random unimportant wild bug chase today! Finding a painless workaround to the preferences bug made my day. Some people play games, some dig memes. I get my fix via not understanding the basics; being hopeless endless noob. For a second decade now too 🙃😁😂
Cheers
