I'm not a fan of #windows but I am jealous of its ability to run #android apps. I'm surprised #linux doesn't have a compatibility layer similar to #wsl (at least that I know of).
All I know for now is #anbox which seems to be abandoned (?) and Waydroid which I can't use yet becuase #wayland just doesn't work for me. Any ideas?

Does anybody know if Anbox properly isolates all proprietary code? Can I run potential malware risk-free?

The biggest asshole move are then apps that are not delivered via @fdroid and that are purposefully designed to brick on non-#GAPPS -Android like #Anbox...

Time to try again.

I have a #pinephone and I would like to try using it more (and #linux as a whole for #smartphone).

How is the current state of it and is there a good distro (I usually go #postmarketOS) with an good interface (#phosh?)?

The best would be to be able to run some limited #android app (maybe through #anbox or #waydroid).

Experimenting with my old #Fairphone2 and #UbuntuTouch . Basic Idea was to setup a home server first, expand it as #Nextcloud Server. But man, almost nothing is possible! Open source never felt so closed. #Ubtouch is a fortress. Trying now #termux on #anbox. Next question: can i #ssh into it?

Es gibt #Anbox und neuer #Waydroid (für Wayland/Mir, was bei UT läuft) Beides braucht unter Umständen Kernel Patches von @ubports bzw. freiwilligen, da es sonst Probleme gibt die Virtualisierung zur Verfügung zu stellen.
Auf einigen Geräten läuft nur Anbox, auf anderen schon Waydroid und auf weniger genutzten UT Geräten gar keins.

Es gibt einen Desktop-Modus, der für Tablets mE sinnvoll ist und auch Darkmodus habe ich inzwischen gefunden...

#Anbox gibt es leider für das Gerät nicht. Welche Linux-Apps über #Libertine sowohl installiert werden können, als auch sinnvoll zu nutzen sind, muss im einzelnen ausprobiert werden. Bspw. Abiword läuft ganz gut. Gajim lief auch, war aber schelcht zu skalieren. Ein paar Erfahrungsberichte und Listen habe ich in Foren gefunden, u.a. hier: forums.ubports.com/post/62789
Vielleicht kann jemand noch eigene Erfahrungen beitragen?

@defcon42 so einfach nicht. Für ein paar Geräte gibt es #Anbox (zB für das Nexus 5), habe ich aber noch nicht ausgetestet.

Libertine ermöglicht die Nutzung von Standard-Desktop-Anwendungen in Ubuntu Touch.

There are already several #immutable linux #distros available. Run any of the following on top: #flatpaks, #appimages #snaps, Compatibility layers like #WINE or #Anbox, #virtualized OSes, tools like #distrobox, #emulators, etc, & never worry about system stability again—pieces of the next generation linux puzzle!

I was already excited by the concept of #distroagnostic packaging uniting the linux realm, but the ideas of an #ImmutableOS completes the picture!
