Ich stelle mich da ganz klar hinter #Valve. #Steam ist kein Monopol, da es genug Konkurrenz gibt. Die großen Publisher sind einfach nur neidisch, dass Steam eine deutlich bessere Plattform als ihre ist und sich Gamer deswegen auch dafür entscheiden, nur verstehen sie es einfach nicht. Vor allem setzt Valve ja auch ein Großteil dafür ein, um das Leben aller Gamer besser zu machen, und damit sich Gabe Newell eine neue Yacht kaufen kann 😂.

Mein to go für PC Gaming sind Steam. #GOG, #itchio und #BattleNet (Ich wünschte, alle Blizzard Spiele wären auf Steam), nicht #Ubisoft, #EA, #EpicGames und #Xbox.

Ich habe die Cross Play Fähigkeit von #Diablo2Resurrected ganz vergessen. Ich habe das Spiel auf #Xbox, #BattleNet und #Switch und kann im Online Modus einfach denselben Charakter spielen. Interessanterweise läuft es gerade auf Switch und #SteamDeck gleichzeitig und Blizzard stört es nicht. 🤷‍♂️

There are partial and unfinished tools that can support #EA, #Ubi and #Battlenet written in #Rust, #typescript and #python, that would make #Heathstone, #wow / #worldofwarcraft, #TheDivision and others more accessible on Linux. Can we find some #fedihelp to get these over the finish line?

I am sure there are people out there that play games on these platforms, can write code and maybe want to get there hands dirty with a little bit of #reverseengineering

I've just spent the last 3.5 hours playing: "World of WarCraft: The War Within". This is the first time I've gone back to Wow in easily 20 years, and it's still lots of fun.

I can't remember all the fine details of how to play, and surprisingly I've found Gemini to be a very knowledgeable and useful helper. Anything I'm unsure about, I just have to ask. It's helping me re-learn the game very quickly.

A few weeks ago I installed Steam on Arch Linux, so that I could install Battle.net, so that I could install and play the old school Warcraft games (not WoW)
I was stoked that I got it working and the games were running “natively”. And I was having a nostalgic blast playing them. But last week, I received an email saying that my account was permanently closed for conduct against the EULA. I was livid to say the least, as I was just playing old school game’s locally, and I wasn’t even cheating.

But I opened a ticket with Blizzard to figure out why I was permanently closed. It took them a week, but it appears I was just caught up in some automated system. And now my account has been restored.

While I’m bummed that I had a week to stew, I’m stoked that they were able to reinstate me.

For finding and fixing the problem. Hopefully it doesn’t happen again, but I am grateful there is a process to recover accounts.

Now only if Nexon would play this nice with *nix users.

#linuxgaming #linuxmint I felt like playing #WarCraft, all the #Blizzard RTS’s are part of my all time favourites. So I started my Linux machine … and did some research on how to install #BattleNet. Tried #Heroic Launcher, didn’t work. Went back to #Lutris. After some tinkering there (mainly with the #Wine version used) I had the launcher working. But should I pay for the remastered versions and then they won’t work? I tried #StarCraft. It worked! Out of the box (from that point). 1/n
