While it performs better than #Zorin with #Gnome, it does not perform as well as #AlpineLinux with #GnomeDesktop. PureOS 10.3 was released in June #2023 and bundled with Gnome Desktop Environment from #2021, #Mutter from 2021, and #GDM from #2020, which is not recommended.

The bundled #GnomeDesktopEnvironment, #Mutter #WindowManager, and #GDM #DisplayManager all appear to be 1-2 year old versions of the #software. The server performance with 280M Memory Usage, 0 CPU Load, and 1.8G Disk Usage, and 11 second reboot time are not the best.

Phosh 39 performs better than #GnomeMobile 45.rc and Worse than #Mate 1.28 on #NixOS 24.05. The software seems to be reasonably up to date with this option and uses the #tinydm login manager. A reasonable option for #LinuxOnMobile

#postmarketOS with #sxmo #DesktopEnviornment and #sway #WindowManager has been #benchmarked on https://everybytecounts.org. The best performing #LinuxMobile desktop environment tested so far. Unfortunately the postmarketOS logo hides the log output to show why the boot time is so long at 24 seconds.

The base #postmarketOS console has been #benchmarked on https://everybytecounts.org. Impressive 61MB memory usage. Curious what the extra 111MB of disk usage is over #AlpineLinux, and why the system load is so much higher than stock Alpine. Unfortunate that the boot time is at 57 seconds (same as #Windows11). Really wish #pmbootstrap init offered an option to disable the boot logo and showed the boot log to help diagnose this.

What's faster, hashing a string and comparing the hash, or simply comparing the string? I made a hashing benchmark for checking just that:

The results? The default stringA == stringB is about 10^6 times faster than the fastest hashing algorithm (xxh3). So hashing is a lot slower than just checking.

This was tested on files with a length of 65K and 3.3M words.

#openSUSETumbleweed #Linux with #KDE #Plasma #Benchmarked on https://everybytecounts.org. The new worst performing linux distribution tested so far. The highest ram usage at 1400MB and 6GB disk usage. If you're looking to use Plasma, it runs on #AlpineLinux with roughly a third of the memory usage at 578mb and a half the disk usage at 2.6GB. Curious why run #openSUSE when there are better performing options.

#antiX #Linux has been #Benchmarked on https://everybytecounts.org. Great to see #IceWM as the #WindowManager instead of the common #Mutter based wm. It uses it's own #slimski #DisplayManager which doesn't appear to have any releases, tags, or branches according to their gitlab #odd. The memory usage of 444mb seems middle of the road for a #DesktopEnvironment, but high for a WM. System load is great at 0. The disk usage seems high at 7GB for the #OperatingSystem. Does anyone daily drive antiX?
