Liftoff! A single bald eagle has taken off from the bare cottonwood branch, it's bright white tail flared and dark wings outstretched and raised upward. Its white head is facing towards the left, yellow beak barely visible against the snow covered hill in the background. The large yellow talons are hanging down, toes spread as they had just released from the branch.

A bald eagle perched in the most inconvenient place from my point of view (behind a thick bark covered branch with only its white head, half of the dark body, and white tail showing above and below the branch). However, just to the right of the eagle, a black-billed magpie has chosen to land on the branch. Its white and iridescent blue wings spread outward, dark black back in between, and long tail flared as it comes in for the touchdown.

While looking at the Canada geese on the golf course, I noticed two different birds moving along with them. I took several photos since I didn't recognize them and let both Merlin and iNat have a crack at it. Both apps gave me a Greater White-fronted Goose. If so, that's a lifer for me!!

A small brown goose moves across the short dull green grass of a golf course, it's head lowered as the orange bill scrapes across the ground while it grazes. Thick orange legs hold the small body up. The brown back and white undertail are visible, as well as a white stripe across it's side.

Driving by the golf course saw there was white birds mixed in with all the Canada Geese. Pulled over, but couldn't quite get a good photo of them. Came back later, asked the Pro Shop guy if I could go out there and he gave me the key to a cart (!). So, I got some nice close up shots of snow geese.

I was here last summer and took a picture that came out with some weird artifacts--it was a *really* hot day in the desert, and some of the markings on the paper backing came through on the film. I think it was due to light leaking in through the little round red-glass window where you see the film counter. Not only was there a *lot* of sunlight that day, but I wasn't in the habit of keeping the camera in a bag, so there was a lot of time for light to be sneaking in.

The wall of the Western Nevada Performing Arts Center is painted teal, with a large face of a person wearing a brown cowboy style hat and long pink hair. A long mural resembling the geometric designs of Central America, with three running horses on either end (the right side cut off in the image), the outside one a pale tan, the center one orange, and the inside one black. Each have a plant like design on them and a contrasting color for their shaded bellies. In the center of the mural are two large upside down rainbows, with a large yellow water drop in the middle. The colors are black, tan, orange, blue, and white. Between them is a green stretched six-legged crocodile, with it's head and tail lifted. Pink and blue clouds are above the animal. Around the edge of the image is a row of colored squares with different colored circles in the middle.

The mural is on the west wall and, due to the timing of the visit, is in shadow from the morning sun. The picture is taken at an angle to avoid the sunlight shining on the lens.

The artist cleverly used the upper roof to give more size to the moon, the image is taken so the two portions align correctly.

On one hand, OMG my Dad has Mountain Chickadees in his yard!! He doesn't get mountain chickadees!!

On the other hand, oh, is it because these little ones are displaced from the Davis Fire?

An overcast day and we're on a ship sailing out of a port, passing a channel between two land masses that are connected by a suspension bridge. Docked alongside the nearest of the land masses on the right of us is a boxy-looking naval vessel in typically grey paintwork with a textured look across it all like corrugated iron. A low bridge sits towards the front, barely jutting over the bulky shape of the ship from this angle. At its rear is a flat area of deck with a flight deck on which to land helicopters. It all looks functional and industrial rather than military.

Gestern #CarsonCity und #ShakeThatCity, heute gab es wieder zwei #Brettspiele zum gleichen Thema: #Suburbia und #Neom. Ich mag beide, von den vier Spielen ist aber Suburbia mein klarer Favorit.
Zum absacken ging es danach drei Runden mit #MysteriousDungeons in den Untergrund unter der Stadt. Auch das kann ich nur wärmstens empfehlen.

Suburbia. Viel zu lange nicht mehr gespielt, immer wieder hervorragend.

Neom war ein Wackelkandidat in meiner Sammlung, hat heute aber doch gut funktioniert.

Immer wieder klein und nett: Mysterious Dungeons.

Gestern gab es zwei #Brettspiele mit Städtebau-Thema.
#CarsonCity kannte ich nur dem Namen nach. Sieht in der Big-Box-Version toll aus, und das Thema spricht mich voll an. Spaßig und gut gemacht, wenn auch vielleicht etwas viel Verwaltung ("dann dreht man hier noch, und hier, und hier...").
#ShakeThatCity war auch beim zweiten Mal ein schöner Absacker. Fast gewonnen, der zweite Tiebreaker hat gegen mich entschieden.
Ich muss dringend wieder #Suburbia auspacken...

There is a giant spider in the desert east of #CarsonCity, NV. It apparently has supernatural power that interferes with the film? More likely it was either user error getting the film in or out of the #KodakBrownie, or it was just too damn bright out.
