A question for business/corporate archivists/RMs:
Have the early-2000s predictions of digital affordances enabling item-level records management panned out at all? (ֵE.g., Bearman saying aggregation is unnecessary for digital records).
If so, how is that affecting your practices?
My sense is that if this is happening anywhere, it's in orgs using systems like MS Sharepoint or other "enterprise" software, which… doesn't tend to fit the profile of who my institution collects
The closing plenary at our CNI Spring Meeting was a particularly meaningful one, moderated by CNI's Clifford Lynch, the panel explored the growing complexity of cybersecurity threats in #libraries & #DigitalArchives.
Alongside Cliff, the panelists discussed aging infrastructure, the importance of risk assessments, the rising stakes of #DigitalPreservation, and the need for widespread cyber literacy across institutions—not just among IT professionals.
