Chronic illness logic: You wake up with a decent pain level and suddenly you’re a speed-cleaning ninja with a death wish.

In this classic Luna moment, the pain scale dipped just enough to trick her into thinking she could conquer the world… or at least the laundry. Spoiler alert: she could not. But she did conquer the dishes, floors, and at least one very alarmed cat. That’s worth something, right?

This comic is for every spoonie who’s ever felt that rare burst of functionality and immediately sprinted headfirst into a self-destructive cleaning montage. You know who you are. You felt okay… until you didn’t.

Sometimes, managing chronic illness means fighting your own instincts to do all the things the second you feel a little better. But hey, if you’re gonna crash, might as well crash with a sparkling floor and folded laundry.

We see you. We are you. And we made this comic just for you.

Let us know: What’s the wildest thing you’ve overdone on a “low pain” day? We wanna hear your “oops” stories in the comments!!

And if you love our chaotic, spoonie-fueled comics, check out our Patreon for exclusive content and early access!

"Maybe I'm fine. Maybe I'm faking it. I feel fine now," I said, lying on the sofa, propped up on pillows and with an ice pack on the more fucked-up shoulder.

Two minutes later, when I go into the kitchen for a drink, I have to grab the counter with both hands to keep from falling down.

Hi everyone! 😊 I hope you're having a good night, morning, or whatever time it is where you are. I slept most of the day, but now I'm curled up in bed propped up against my new wedge pillow (a birthday gift!) with the heated blanket my mom gave me draped over my lap. It was supposed to be a Christmas present, but she gave it to me early since it's cold here and my joint pain has been worse in this weather. 🥶💙
I'm sipping coffee, watching TV, and getting some work done. I'm also about to buy a Raspberry Pi 5 with some birthday money—so excited for that! 🎉 Afterward, I need to tackle lesson 15 exercises for my Braille proofreading course, work on Codecademy and freeCodeCamp lessons, and update my website. That said, I might just fall asleep as cozy as I am right now, and honestly, that's okay. This joint pain has been rough lately, so extra sleep might do me some good. 😴
This heated blanket is so soft and warm—I love it! 🥰 Stay safe and warm out there!

Good morning, everyone! 🌞 I hope you're all having a great day so far. I just woke up not too long ago and treated myself to leftover chocolate birthday cake, chocolate ice cream, and a glass of milk for breakfast—because why not? 🍫🍰 Now, I'm sipping on a cup of coffee ☕ and getting ready to tackle the day.

Here's what's on my agenda:
- Work on Lesson 15 of my Braille proofreading course.
- Spend some time learning with Codecademy's full-stack engineering career path and the fundamentals of cybersecurity skill path.
- Check and respond to emails.
- Telehealth appointment with my gastroenterologist. Need to get on the patient portal and find out what time this is because I don't remember.
- Make a couple of important phone calls:
- Schedule an appointment with a rheumatologist to confirm whether I have rheumatoid arthritis or lupus (I've been dealing with joint pain and tenderness, and lab results suggest it could be either).
- Reschedule a missed dental appointment.
- Contact my health insurance and primary care doctor about getting an adjustable bed to help with my health conditions.

It's shaping up to be a busy day, but I'm feeling motivated! What about you? What are you working on or looking forward to today? Let’s chat! 😊

Exhaustion strikes again! 😅 Today's comedy of errors:
1. Plugged in headphones and webcam
2. Logged into therapist's portal
3. Frantically searched for non-existent 'Join Session' button
4. Sudden realization: It's Wednesday, not Thursday!

Therapy is tomorrow, and I could've been in bed this whole time! 🛌💤 Sometimes the brain fog is real, folks.

My sister texted me today asking if I have a wish list for my birthday on December 3. Usually, I get gift cards, socks, or other random things because no one knows what to get me. But this year, I'm prepared! I've been using a site called Chestr to create a wish list. It's not perfect—there are some accessibility issues—but it's usable.

I’ve been adding things all year, and now my list has nearly 50 items, from tech gadgets to fidget toys and puzzles. The fidget toys and puzzles are a favorite since I'm autistic, sometimes bedbound, and need things to do with my hands that provide sensory stimulation and keep me engaged. Hopefully, this makes gift shopping easier for my family this time around! 🎉🎁

Good night, everyone! 🌙 I know it's only 1:00 PM, but I've been super productive today and now I'm starting to not feel so great. Time to listen to my body, grab a bite to eat, and then head to bed. Rest is important, no matter the time of day! Take care of yourselves, friends. 💤

Hey fellow #ActuallyAutistic and #Neurodivergent folks! Question for you: Does anyone else struggle with the noise of vacuum cleaners? 🧠🔊

My stepdad is vacuuming right now, and I find it incredibly loud and overstimulating. I always have to close my door when he does this. As a blind person, I rely on my hearing, so using earplugs isn't really an option for me.

I'm wondering how I'll ever learn to vacuum myself. Any tips or experiences to share? How do you cope with this kind of sensory overload?

Good morning, all! Just woke up, had breakfast, and now I'm sipping re-heated coffee from last night's pot. Today's agenda: a neurologist appointment for nerve block injections to manage my #OccipitalNeuralgia. It's a mix of dread and anticipation - painful procedure, but months of relief make it worthwhile.

This round wore off early due to a brief gap in my medication, but I'm hopeful for better results this time.

On the learning front, I'm diving into lesson 13 of my #BrailleProofreading course after receiving feedback on lesson 12. Also on the to-do list: finishing a #freeCodeCamp #JavaScript project - a #Pokémon search app. I've been procrastinating a bit because JS can be challenging!

How's everyone else's day shaping up?

Hi everyone! What's everyone up to tonight? I'm wrapping up work on lesson 12 exercises for my Braille proofreading course, double-checking before sending to my instructor. Then, dinner time! My mom and stepdad brought back Mexican food from their trip to Mom's doctor appointment earlier. After that, it's either programming work or bed - I'm a bit tired, so we'll see.

Funny moment with Squeaker earlier: He didn't want to go to his kennel when called. He tried hiding in his daytime bed under my desk! Thought I'd have to chase him, but he finally came after several calls. He's already in bed now. 😄

Hi all! How's everyone's day going? It's about 4:15 PM here, and I've just woken up. 😴 Planning to dive into my next #programming project and maybe make some progress on my #Braille proofreading course. First things first though - food! 🌽🐕 Corn dogs are in the oven since I haven't eaten since 6:00 this morning. Absolutely famished!

Those people who think that chronically ill people are just vacationing and having fun while the hardworking people are busting their asses off should have their kneecaps popped while their doctors deny there is anything wrong with them for the rest of their agonizing lives.

Would serve them right.

I was not sure if I would make through shopping today but by sheer determination and fact that I could not afford a taxi ride home. My leg was hurting like hell on the get-go and by the time we walked to the shop, it tried to give in.

After all that. We forgot milk.

And there is no way in hell I can go to shop before next week. (=_=)

Me: *reads medication side effects*
The side effects: bloating, "moon face", swollen feet, muscle weakness, eyesight issues, risen heartrate and bloodpressure...
Me: *as the list keeps getting longer, and longer* Oh wow... I really hope I don't get that "moon face", it takes like 6 months to a year for that kind of swelling to go away and I really like my face as is.

Also me: Still worth it though, if the medication works.

The feeling of "I AM NOT DOING ENOUGH" is really excruciating. I have long list of to-do's, some that I have shoved to the very back of the list, and all of them haunt me while I scramble to do the most basic tasks to stay alive.

I know I do the best I can, but sometimes the stress grows so much as the damn of STUFF keeps overflowing.

Worst moment of the day is when I need to do "the acessment" of whether I can do XYZ or do I need to go nap instead in order to be able to do just Z later.

It is frustrating, furiating, and a lot of other F's.
