This morning I used the latest Canon DPP and gimp 3 and GraphicsMagick on macOS and Debian on the raw data from 6 years ago. My preferences have changed. Two unsharp masks with different radius, disable "auto lighting optimizer", enable "digital lens optimizer", white balance "cloudy", slight change to gamma curve, and 3rd unsharp mask when down scaling image.

The black and white is actually color on a gray cloudy day.

This is Lough Eske in County Donegal, Ireland on August 4, 2013. In Gaelic it was originally called "fish lake". When the kingdom of Tirconaill was ruled by the O'Donnell family, there was an O'Donnell castle at the edge of this lake. The Bluestack Mountains, also called the Croaghgorms, are in the background beyond the lake.

Legend says one can see Scotland from here, but the ewe seemed skeptical to me. This ewe was guarding her lamb at Stroove, Moville, Donegal, Ireland. The photo was made on August 4, 2013, looking North East from above an Inishowen cliff. Columbcille (St. Columba) is said to have left from near this place when he exiled himself to Scotland. Distant mountains are barely visible across the ocean.

Recently I designed a business card with the new #gimp, using the new #cmyk export to tiff. Two print services told me the file was broken. One of them even asked if it was made with the new gimp, because they know that it's export is broken. I converted to CMYK tiff with #graphicsmagick , worked like a charm.

This version of the same photo was created from the raw file using rawtherapee free software. The frame with text was made and the image downsized from 8000x5333 using GraphicsMagick free software.

Exiftool free software was used to add standard IPTC and MWG metadata tags.

Gwenview can even display Sony RAW images.

Ich hab ne schöne Sony α6000 Kamera geschenkt bekommen, und hab Lust fotographieren zu lernen.

Die Kamera macht #RAW Bilder und wandelt sie intern auch in gut aussehende #JPG um. Nur ist sie halt über 10 Jahre alt, entsprechend veraltet ist die Software (hab schnell auch alle Wireless-Funktionen ausgemacht ;D).

Möchte mir deswegen mit #dcraw und #GraphicsMagick einen Automatismus bauen, um die Raw Bilder selber schnell in moderne JPG umzuwandeln, die am besten auch kleiner sind als 7MB...
