This report about #Wacom graphics tablets is disturbing for a couple of reasons.

1. They are surveilling users of their #tablet - a human-interface device analogous to a mouse or trackball - recording every application you open, or when you switch between windows of different applications. They are collecting this data via a trip through Google Analytics, aka Spyware Central. There is no possible way to justify collection of this particular data; it is none of their damn business how long you have your drawing program focused before switching to your browser and back again. The author notes their privacy policy really doesn't describe this collection of data correctly, so there really can't be informed consent in the first place.

2. Why on earth is it possible in #Apple #OSX / #MacOS for a USB human interface device driver to capture this information in the first place? Apple shares a big slice of the blame here - this should just simply not be possible for the driver to collect in the first place. Having such a driver allowed to place outgoing HTTP requests is also a big "WTF are they thinking?" moment.

Amazing to see the end of this design trend. I remember arguing with devs of the design agency I used to work at 10 years ago. Their main pro-touch screen argument was: "you can change software ui via updates." What I heard: "You can stick together a shitty ui and fix the worst parts later to keep customers just under the frustration threshold of dumping the car." In other words, lazy, tech-driven design mentality.

If you attach a custom HID device to an iPhone but still want the phone to pull up the on-screen keyboard while attached, you can have your device send an eject code (like adafruit_hid's ConsumerControlCode.EJECT) to allow it to keep taking inputs as a secondary device. I found that advice in a barcode scanner forum where they wanted to get their screen real estate back. #Adafruit #HID

I created Bluetooth keyboard with Raspberry PI and Python. It works fine when it is connected, however, for some reason it is not showing "Connect" button if I disconnect from it.

I have to then remove the entire device and re-pair.

Why it doesn't have connect button like my headphones? Some problem with the descriptor XML?

Приветствую всех! Однажды увидел я на просторах ролик, как кто-то подключил лифтовой вызывной пост вместо обычной кнопки включения компьютера. И вот как-то раз я снова вспомнил про это, отчего мне сразу захотелось сделать что-то подобное. Но, раз уж делать, то куда технологичнее. Сделаем такую кнопку, не требующую вскрытия корпуса и подключения напрямую к контактам на материнке. Можно ли это реализовать? Как оказалось, это несколько сложнее, чем я думал… Итак, в сегодняшней статье сделаем аналог той штуки, который можно будет подключить к любому компьютеру. Заодно разберёмся, как это будет работать, поговорим про USB HID и все его нюансы, посмотрим на начинку лифтовых кнопок разных лет и наконец добавим на рабочий стол артефакт из подъезда двухтысячных.

#USB is unfixably broken as it inherently does neither #authentification (#BIOS & #UEFI filter only by #HID class drivers if they can do so at all!) nor proper integrity checking nor any #Security whatsoever.

• Most enterprises and organizations that I know who do care about this literally hardwire systems, but them in lockedcabinets, use #PS2 HIDs, disable #USB controllers and set ports and headers in resin...

Pitkällisen kamppailun jälkeen sain toimivan kulkuluvan yhteen oveen. En siis toimilupaa, ainoastaan kulkuluvan.

Ehkä mulla oli siinä jopa jonkinlainen lausuntavirhe, eli luulin että se on ”hid” mutta kun kuulin asiaan vihkiytyneiden puhuvan asiasta niin se olikin ”haid”, tämä eli siis tuo englantilainen lyhenne, mutta kuten tunnettua joissakin kielissä ei mitään lausuntasääntöjä ole, ne pitää vaan tietää miten ne sanat sanotaan niinku esimerksi ”luuju” ja ”puuju”, nehän on noita ruotsinkielisiä paikkakunnannimiä.

Tässä ajatus aivan kuin irtoaa aiheesta, eli siinä oli sen lausunnan lisäksi kaikenlaista kutsukoodi- ynnä muuta lukitustekniikkahäikkää. Piru ties mitä perkeleitä siinä matkalla.

Käytiin kuntosalilla, kirottiin takastullessa pakkasta, että sitä on jo ens viikonvaihteessa ehkä miinus neljä ja että talven tulo vituttaa noin niinku keskimääräistä enemmän. Auton etulasikin oli jo jäässä, vai mikä ikkuna se siinä autossa on. Hyväuskoisten Sanomat (hs.fi) on näköjään selvittänyt että Lamborghini -nimisiä vempeleitä on myyty paljon, mikä ihmetyttää köyhää kirjoittavaa toimitsijaa ja ehkä myös osaa hänen uskollisista lukijoistaan.

Lienee syytä tässä ohimennen mainita että kotkalaiset ja haminalaiset - eli siis koko tämän kymijokisuiston peräsuolijengi – odottelevat innolla kiinalaista pääomaa paikallisiin akkumateriaalitehdashankkeisiin. Sehän on nyt siinä jyvällä kun kiinlaiset kauppa-alukset katkovat tietoliikennekaapeleita sun muita johtoja Itämerellä. Taitaa tulla iso pötkö? Vai mitä?
