I haven't used it with Dropbox, but #InSync (https://www.insynchq.com/) does a great job with Google Drive syncing, being faster than even the official Google Drive app (Linux performance compared to the windows google drive app)
It does support dropbox, though. And you pay once per account you sync with (can use it on any number of machines, last I checked). It's not open source, though.

Upgrading to #Xubuntu #Noble — 24.04 from 22.02 — and a review
The upgrade to Xubuntu 24.04 introduced both enhancements and challenges. Key issues included difficulties with re-enabling third-party #PPAs, slow initial load times for #Thunderbird, and complications with #Insync. #Snap applications are more prevalent, and they require careful management to avoid storage issues.

Aaaaannnd I’m back on #nixos on my #framework laptop. #bluefin was fine but I could not run the cloud drive software I wanted to use (Expandrive) as it would install but then have issues mounting the drives. #rclone was a hot mess and I had to run #syncthing in a container. Solution to my cloud storage issue? Clean out the cruft and get them back down in size. Then use the regular sync clients ( #nextcloud desktop + #insync for the rest).

Me: Rename folder containing 2 gigs of files
#InSync: DELETING AND UPLOADING 2GB OF FILES...!
Me: Ah, booger.
Reading about the Dropbox AI shenanigans makes me wonder about my files in Microsoft's OneDrive, especially given their recent AI fervour. I use the Insync Linux client on Debian to sync files with my OneDrive account and it works really well, but maybe it is time to consider some alternatives.
Finally got around to removing Insync https://www.insynchq.com/ in favour of just using pCloud. It hasn't worked properly with Google Drive in ages, authentication is broken.
Hilariously stupid that Google Drive doesn't support Linux natively, they have tons of desktop Linux use inside Google.
I love supporting underdogs like Insync, but if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Pity.
Yeah, even using my own API key, rclone mount was pretty slow.
I just bit the bullet and bought #InSync. I didn't realize their pricing was PER CLOUD ACCOUNT, which is kinda scary, but I only have one I care about fast access to, so that's ok for my needs.
It is FAST. Possibly faster than the native gdrive client on windows. I asked them and they said they're using the standard API, but I have a hard time believing it. It's just crazy fast. Well-written.
Oops!
I think I'm going to drop the $30 on #InSync. I've had it running flawlessly (afaict) for the past few days, and it's crazy quick. I think it actually syncs a lot faster than "proper" goog drive.
Not crazy about the fact that it's $30 PER ACCOUNT, though :P

@TheNutrivore Back when I used a cloud service, found #Insync worked very well with my Linux setup.
