Education should consist of three parts: the practical, the #intellectual, and the #spiritual. In this way, it is dedicated to the three areas of human existence: the physical, the intellectual, and the spiritual (i.e., the #soul).
Today's #education is devoted almost exclusively to the practical. High #culture (the intellectual aspect) is receding. We do not consider the spiritual aspect at all. A balanced education would be good for the younger generation, society, and the world.
If we do not make the work on our mind and on the growth in our #humanity, our #culture will not survive. The skillful handling of the instrument of the #mind can only be learned through practice. The best time for this is childhood and adolescence. Thus, the right place for this practice is #school.
Let us be clear about this: #intellectual and #spiritual development may be seen as a private matter, but it is nonetheless the prerequisite of our #democracy.
