As #‪JesseMakkonen‬ said the game would work on #SteamDeck which means it will also work on my #Linux Desktop, I decided to spend a few bucks now when it's on discount. Graphics is like old ASCII art, kind of like watching movies with #mplayer using the #caca library.

I used two players
The first is of course VLC
The second player is musicolet

Both players are Open Source(*) and musicolet is the lightest in resource use I've seen so far.

I would have used mPlayer if it was compiled for the Android

I've been corrected on the fact that musicolet has no reference on being Open Source on it's website. Musicolet is lightweight, free, has no internet thus no ads

Figured out how to use yt-dlp with MPlayer, if for some reason you want such a thing

I am always curious when a program is able to do something that seems impossible (like extracting Youtube videos from a URL). I.e., MPV somehow uses yt-dlp flawlessly

Next semi-unrelated step, I might try to move my Youtube subscriptions from Newsboat over to Newsticker (Emacs)

About a year ago when I typed in man mpv I got immediately to a proper man page linked from a German man serverGoogle

Now I have to jump to DuckDuckGo to get the same results

Since #mpv is #MPlayer with a gui it's nice yet not surprising it does static images too

#MEncoder also has some nice goodies
I make ogm files when I encode streams with it. Vorbis goes multichannel {5.1+} with no issues

#ffMPeg will blow your socks off with its Easter Eggs 🥚

I'm still mad mpv changed all of those CLI options it inherited from mplayer. -ac 2 because --audio-channels=2 for instance. 13 EXTRA CHARACTERS.
If they'd left the 'legacy' flags in I'd not mind mpv nearly as much.
Plus it's harder to type an '=' than a space. And no, mpv won't allow '--audio-channels 2' either.

When's the last time you heard of VIDIX (not Divx, not Xvid) in MPlayer? 20 years ago? Never? It'll be your best friend when you try to watch videos on a 1.33GHz Powerbook G4 (Radeon GPU; Novidia users are out of luck again). Kill your compositor or it won't work though (There's no tearing even without it).

Alright, installed #Fedora on my laptop, just to get the graphics driver working. Apart from the new package manager - there's a huge problem with that distro: no #mplayer or #ffmpeg! Can you believe that?

I like the new #Ubuntu 23.10, especially the #Mate edition.

Runs great in my VM, without VirtualBox, vanilla #KVM #qemu #libvirt + virt-manager GUI.

Bunch of pesky bugs fixed.

The new #Celluloid #mpv #mplayer GUI NEEDS to ship with a few more scripts/preference options by default, though - i'm manually implementing auto-close-on-EOF.lua and auto-fullscreen.lua scripts i've found on GitHub.

Oh, and virt-manager NEEDS a fullscreen toggle key combo! …not the only issue with #virtManager ;)
