it is now all based on liboprf.
rewrote the server in #zig, the python client has also been completely rewritten. threw out the macaroons and the opaque-storage back-end, this simplified and made the whole thing a bit more secure also.
still some work left before this can go into production, but this is a big leap already. pheeew.

Good and bad #bootstrapping and #lisp news.
Timothy Sample has been exploring to write a #bootstrappable syntax-case implementation (the first?) and using GNU Mes to prototype that, sponsored by @nlnet .
Sadly, it didn't perform and #NLnet apparently didn't choose to extend his grant. (Boo!)
Edit: I was contacted by NLnet and they convinced me that they never denied such an extension (or new grant) proposal.
So...that's probably double sad...this seems to have been a most classical communication problem (seen Black Mirror S07E05?).
Edit: Also, the "Boo!" was primarily directed at the possibility of the EU retracting funding, NLnet is doing very important work, and amazingly so.
Anyway, Timothy is now writing another bootstrappable lisp implementation: Germ. It's still pretty early days but it's looking great. So happy with this!

Following my recent post about #GHDL, I was made aware that there is no bootstrap chain for #GNAT! For such a widely used and historically significant language like #Ada (totally not biased), it seems like a strange hole to be left. Plus, it would mean that GNAT could be included in full-source distributions like #Guix.
Thankfully, there is an #NLNet project [1] just for this! I'm glad that there's some real resources being devoted to this. LMK if anyone has news!
