Behind the kids playhouse we dumped a load of old containers, just found a cheeky oak (I think) trying to grow, moved it now to somewhere more fitting for a future ancient tree.

For #ThickTrunkTuesday, I have a symbol of resilience for you: an #oak #tree that is still going strong despite a massive #canker. The tree may be from the late 1500s when the #park was founded as a hunting area and breeding/research compound, today it's next to the moose enclosure of #SababurgZoo.
The tree has a height of around 27 metres and a circumference of more than 6,6 metres (below the canker). The hollow #trunk houses a hornets' nest and visitors are asked to be cautious. As you can imagine, it's a popular photo spot.

One of my favorite trees because it's so incredibly strong. An oak tree that, at just over a meter high, has such a large bend that it stands parallel to a green meadow dotted with buttercups and white flowers, whose green will soon be no darker than that of the May-green oak leaves. In the foreground is flowering cotton grass, typical of moors.
