🌊 Der Salzwasser-Wellen-Strömungkanal an der #TUBraunschweig ist in seiner Art einzigartig in Europa.
🎙️ Dr. David Schürenkamp vom Leichtweiß-Institut für Waserbau erklärt in der neuen Folge der Reihe "Auf eine Limo mit ..." von "Besser Smart", wie die Anlage funktioniert und beschreibt im Interview welche interdisziplinären Forschungsmöglichkeiten er bietet und warum er für die #Energiewende wichtig ist.

A classic #OceanEngineering application of #CFD is the simulation of “green water overtopping” on platform decks. In our recent publication on the topic, we study the case of a sea-level deck, comparing the laboratory experiments with analytical and numerical models developed ad hoc for this geometric case:
#SmoothedParticleHydrodynamics was originally developed for #astrophysics (modelling star formation), but has expanded to #NavalArchitecture, #OceanEngineering, #waterworks, #aeronautics, #geology, #medicine, just to name a few.
It has caught the attention of several industries, with applications ranging from the design of engines, tires and windshield wipers to the development of wave energy converters, ship-locks, fish-passes and dam spillways.
