Have not seen this happen before: The #NWS is reporting my area at 50F, while the entire network of #PWS (including mine) have just dipped to 39F.

It *feels* like 39. My thermostat must grab data from somewhere fed by the NWS, because it also says it is 50F outside.

I didn't have a weather station in Florida so can't know what the rain rate was there (we had some serious gully-washers) but tonight's thunderstorm was a whole new level here in Western #NorthCarolina

Turns out the PWS is still outputting data reliably overnight (thought I was seeing a failure), it was, instead, a failing SDR card. SDR cards run HOT, and highly recommend extra heat sinking, if you can. #sdr #electronics #pws #wx

So I guess now Weather Underground thinks that 8 seconds ago is not within the last 30 days?

It's been a long, terrible downward spiral since IBM bought them.

Well, the temperature and humidity sensors in my #PWS seem to have migically started reporting again overnight. Re-enabling the weatherbot for now, but will monitor.

Just had a short storm with the highest rain rate I’ve seen in the #pws, 3.4” per hour. Torrential, and only for about 10 minutes.

Really hoping people are ok in the larger storms. #Asheville

@glenwood_pws are there any more of these Fediverse weather stations? I miss the old Weather Underground, back when it was all underground. And had local weather 😊

Besides the physical weather station, you probably want to evaluate a #PWS based on home network connectivity, as well as global/worldwide connectivity to various weather data aggregators. Do some brands constrain you in that regard?
