They usually start their annual mating season in late November here & that goes on until early May. It's during those months that you'll hear the males singing their little froggy mating hearts out, the most.

These wee frogs have the ability to morph into different colours, depending on the environment they're in. This natural camouflaging ability helps them to hide from predators better.

A small green pacific treefrog sits upon a large yellow sunflower on the evening of National Sunflower day.

The sweetest little Pacific tree frog (a.k.a. Pacific chorus frog) took up residence in our Purple Heuchera plant a few days ago, and hops out from beneath their favorite leaf to greet me (and/or to enjoy a shower) every day when I water it. (Not sure when I’ll get a chance to clean up the poor plant, which is looking pretty raggedy-ass after the winter — but that’s okay, my froggy friend doesn’t seem to mind!)

Goldenberry guardians. 🟠 🐸

Every peruvian gooseberry (aka: #goldenberry) bush in my garden has a #treefrog or three lounging within. Thankfully they're eating many of the destructive flea beetles, fruitflies, leafhoppers and slugs that could ruin the delectable crop. In return for their service they get shade, easy meals and protection from predators. A win win situation.

It's hot & dry in #wsanecterritory. It feels early this year.... The ephemeral ponds have dried up, seeds are rattling in their pods. I watched the first pacific tree frog tadpoles exuberantly hatch bursting out of their egg sac. (They took forever because of unusually cold weather, six long weeks instead of 1-3 weeks.)
I had news of an acquaintance who's crewed for years on tall ships. She just got her Tall Ship Captains license. I am so proud of her!
