Noctilucent Windmill
A midsummer shot from a night when there was a beautiful display of noctilucent clouds. I love it when these fleeting shapes of ice crystals, high up in the atmosphere, suddenly appear some time after sunset.
Soon, a few photography friends and I will be presenting each other our best shots of the past year. Sunset Poles
My favourite stretch of beach here in the Netherlands is between Bergen and Hargen. You can find multiple lines of these poles, running into the sea, and wave breakers in the form of stone dams, with loose rocks beside them, offering good foregrounds for seascapes. The best quality of this beach, though, is that there's usually nobody there in the evening. You can be here all by yourself, which is something I very much enjoy.

I finally succumbed to my girlfriend's demands of travelling with only one camera and one lens.
So I travelled for around 2 weeks in #Japan with the #Olympus #OMSystem OM-D E-M10 IV and the #Sirui 24 mm 1.33× #AnamorphicLens and came back with some really nice shots!
With most people presenting things in vertical format for consumption on phones, it was refreshing to get some #widescreen goodness.

Chiesetta di San Giovanni
This small church in Val di Funes, in the central Dolomites, is iconic for a reason. Just look at this view and you know you have to see this in person. After coming down from the beautiful view over Santa Maddalena from higher up the other way, I stood here well after sunset. The evening sky still subtly cast a warm glow on the mightily impressive Puez-Odle mountain group in the background. Hints of snow could even be seen. While I had hoped for more autumn colours, this view never disappoints.

Santa Maddalena
The immensely picturesque village of Santa Maddalena in the beautiful Val di Funes (Villnöß Valley), with the mighty peaks of the Puez-Odle mountain group in the background. The evening sun cast a warm orange glow on the peaks.
While I hoped the trees would have shown more autumn colours when I was in the Dolomites during the last days of September and first days of October, it was still amazing to be there again.

Sea Surf
This eroded piece of driftwood was lying in the surf when I stumbled upon it. The waves were engulfing it every now and then. I set up my tripod and waited for the right moment to catch an incoming wave. I like how the water seems to hug the driftwood, as if the sea isn't quite ready to let go of it yet.

I knew there would be a display of these night clouds last night. The high altitude activity had spiked during the day, so it was only a matter of time. Once blue hour had set in, I could see these clouds appear from my living room window in real time. First only ever so faintly, and then clearer and clearer. That's when I know I had to go outside. I'm glad I did.
