Ceanothus sanguineus, red-stemmed ceanothus. Many tiny white pentangular flowers arranged in panicles. Ceanothus occurs all up and down the west coast of North America, but you are likely more familiar with the blue-violet species from warmer areas. They have floral/honey frangrances but this one is ... just odd. Not like anything else and you couldn't really call it pleasant. I read that it's hard to propagate, too. All that makes it much less interesting to commerce.

Delphinium nuttallianum, upland larkspur. Against a background of silver and grey-silver-green grasses, a stem of six flowers. Each has five sepals that resemble petals, a gorgeous bright cobalt blue, a long nectar spur sticking out of the back of the flower, and a "bee" in front of the sepals. The bee is made op of the actual petals, two of which are turned upward, white with blue veining, and the others turned down, deeper blue with fuzz on them, curled around to protect the stamens.

A male Ceratina Bee is seen peering into a nest that’s being excavated by a female. The nest is in a stem of a Goatsbeard plant (Aruncus dioicus) 10mm in diameter.
On the sides of the stem, “jaw dust” flakes that the female is excavating is the pith of the plant. that she is removing. The final nest will be a tunnel running four to six inches long.

A female Ceratina Bee is seen foraging on the flower head of Ceanothus velutinus, a native shrub that is a great pollen and nectar source.

A plant with small waxy dark green leaves has big clumps of lavender-to-purple colored tiny flowers. It is seen in bright sunlight. The clumps form bulbous shapes that themselves look like flowers, though they are all made up of the tiny starburst-shaped micro blooms.

A blue flower cluster (that’s almost lavender colored) consisting of bunches of very tiny flowers in bulbous shapes grows out from a background of flat green oval leaves which are creased in stemlike patterns. The leaves are shiny in the low angled sunlight of the image. Edges of the image show more leaves in shadows.

The blue flower bunches also have tiny filaments in and among the small flowers which are whitish and end in tiny bulb shapes.

Ceanothus is going gangbusters right now. Smells great and lots of pollinators visiting. I think this big one is a yellow faced bumblebee or a California bumblebee, but there are evidently a number of similar looking bees.
