All our charts are now powered by Chart.js, a charting library that's open source (like Lichess). It is used on rating charts, analysis graphs, the lag gauge, and more. Previously, we were reluctantly using a closed source library. Many thanks to the Lichess user ItsGam3Tyme for this great contribution!

NextJS with #ChartJS is the only charting library that works directly out of the box. Almost all the other rest have some issues or the other with integration.

Airbnb Visx, Nivo Charts, Apache ECharts none of these actually worked fully.

Very random question... Does anyone know of a working Packed.Circle solution for ? Could be a full plugin, or just an algorithm that handles scaling the circles so they fit within bounds with no overlap (ideally with a center of gravity in the middle) and I can feed the x,y,r values into the existing ChartJS bubble chart. My use case will be 10-20 circles, radii 1-200 (pre-scaling) on a canvas 400x400 (though everything is variable of course!).

Hmmm, what to do? I'm refactoring a webapp of mine kicking out all the old frontend stuff, but aim to keep the build tooling to a minimal. Will be going with #Tailwindcss, so that requires Node (which is fine).

But for the #javascript parts, which will be libraries such as #htmx and #hyperscript, but also #chartjs and some others. Will I add #ESBuild to handle this, use unpkg (don't want to depend on a CDN) or manually download and link in my project?

Here's where I'm at with this "Time to first response" chart.

It hits the initial design, and I like it.

There's somewhat of an answer to the "So what?" question, which was the goal: when there's too much going on above the goal for too long, especially the average, it's time to revisit the commitments and support processes.

Next week I'm starting on a new chart. Also for operators.

using #chartjs to render charts in the browser in a #Laravel PHP app. now I want to email those charts once per week. pondering to call #NodeJS from #PHP to render the images. aim is to keep code duplication and logic running in NodeJs to a minimum while being the least hacky. maybe just use quickchart.io though weary of adding another vendor to the mix.

What do you guys all think of the second chart below?

Does the second headline make it clear?
Does the lack of dates below the second chart create a lingering hesitation?

#BuildInPublic #RubyOnRails #dataviz #stimulusjs #chartjs

Screenshot of a double-chart: the primary chart showing the time to first response to support cases, and the secondary chart showing the number of support cases per day, both in the last 30 days.
