Pet peeve: the way speech differences are given subtly ableist names.

I mean... "lisp"? "Rhotacism"? Come on!! At least let the people affected choose what to call it! Y'know, like... maybe something they can easily pronounce?

Can you imagine if we did that to the ableds? Replace some everyday phrase of theirs with something they literally can't say?

Like... what if we decreed that nobody can ever say "I'm going to go grab some lunch" anymore... now you have to say "everyone deserves to have all their needs met even if they don't work."

Instant chaos!

Oh, I forgot to post about it yesterday— I stretched WITHOUT PAIN OR PULLING A MUSCLE for the first time ever yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!! Is there a #DisabledJoy tag on here bc that definitely counts, I was ecstatic

I am so tired. My sleep is fucked for my course so I know I'll be tired AF, whatever times I sleep and wake, unless I get randomly lucky, which is possible.
It's annoying but otherwise fine. The DWP looms with their "make young people with symptoms work" bullshit, but the blade's not fallen yet.

With any luck, I can get work as an off-hours therapist. Like crisis lines, night shift standby, or similarly flaky clients who check my daily / weekly schedule forecast and call me up during my projected online-office hours.

Today is a day for saying fuck you to the little voice that insists I should only be taken seriously as a disabled person if I'm always miserable.

Today is a day to flip the finger to the attitude that my work, my activism, my principles only count if I suffer all the time. That my desire to work towards a better world is meaningless if I ever take a break.

Today is a day to laugh and kick aside the pesky, nonsensical notion that I somehow am cold and soulless and uncaring because I choose to turn away from things I cannot possibly affect in order to attend to things I desperately need.

Today is a day to remember that liberation isn't about what we are willing to die for - it's about what we insist on living for.

Today is a day for #DisabledJoy.

I've now had several consecutive days without feeling awful, and my delight about this has officially surpassed my fear of jinxing it by celebrating, so here we are!
