Some of the older #Indigenous #art on one of Beau's work tables.

Monochrome shot of Native art objects in various stages of completion scattered on a cluttered workbench. A small, carved figure stands atop a piece of driftwood. Other items include a paddle with carved symbols, rounded carvings, and woodworking tools. Faint text on an RV in the background reads "Est. 1941".

Medium shot of Indigenous weaving piece hanging taking up the center of the frame. The top of the hanging is suspended by twine from a gray metal pole, likely part of a tent frame or awning structure. The hanging comprises a thick, woven band, from which hang alternating strands of thick, white rope with fluffy tassels and narrower strips of tanned leather and knotted brown cord. The visual texture is varied due to the different materials. The backdrop is a cluttered outdoor scene, including a partial view of a large RV to the right, and a workbench with various camping supplies, tools beneath and to the left. The lighting is natural daylight, with some areas in shadow.

Beau sent me another update photo of the #DugoutCanoe that some students at Wellington high school in #Nanaimo are working on. It's almost all finished. Lots of sanding done & just a bit more to do.

High-angle, medium shot of a light-colored, sculpted wooden fish placed diagonally across a gray concrete surface. The fish is carved with stylized red crescent shapes along its top edge, some filled with black. It rests on wood scraps amid wood shavings, with a dark, circular storm drain and cover positioned on the right side of the frame. The composition emphasizes texture contrast between the wood grain. The wood carvings contrast against the concrete. The sculpture is partially in shadow with good lighting on the overall form.

As I’m doing the big reset on my visible portfolio, and also doing the reset on visible toots here, let me just share a few of my pieces that I’m super proud of and that sell out pretty much every show. #nativeart #digitalart

An update on forearm tattoo design. I thought about the tattoo artist’s remark that it looked like a knife so I took another shot and made that shape more explicit. The three line mark along the blade can be blood. I put in the Cayuga word for “sharp” on the handle as a bit of callout to when my ancestor, who survived the residential school system, later in life carved sharp knife onto his carpenters toolbox. His own little bit of resistance. #nativeart #tattoo

Medium shot of a carved, unfinished wooden dugout cedar canoe. The canoe is the primary focus, positioned horizontally in the foreground and running the length of the picture. The ground is splattered with wood shavings. The background includes a picnic table on the left with a log laid across it, plants, and a modern building with reflective windows. The lighting is overcast, with cool tones dominating the scene. The composition emphasizes the craftsmanship of the canoe against the backdrop of a contemporary school environment.

Being on the back burner since 2023, I'm currently remastering a comic I made in 2012 (text and some visual overhauls) that was my senior project before graduation back then. Here's a preview of said comic's first panel. #Art #Comics #IndigenousArt #IndigenousComics #NativeArt #NativeComics #Preview

An adult indigenous man (long hair, facial hair, dark hoodie) sitting down at a table in a deli while closing his eyes. A bagel and water are presented on the table. Image is in grayscale.
