In April of 2025 Rhiannon Giddens reunited with her former Carolina Chocolate Drops bandmate Justin Robinson to release “What Did the Blackbird Say to the Crow.” It's an album of old-time and string band music filled with traditional Appalachian and North Carolina tunes. Fantastic and a must-hear for #bleugrass, #OldTime, #fiddle, #banjo, and #Americana music fans.

Got this from my friend’s record shop in Lafayette years ago, probably during Festival International. It’s called Lagniappe Records.

This is basically Louisiana’s version of old time folk music with a #Cajun French twist (accordion.) Features titles such as “Bayou Teche Waltz,” “Mon Cherie Bebe Creole” and “A Mosquito Ate Up My Sweetheart.” At times, the vocals have a similar guttural, heartfelt delivery as Mexican ranchero music.
