#CircusLupus’ second album Solid Brass (1993) has one foot in #TouchAndGo noise and one foot in the angular #DiscordRecords sound.

It took me a while to get into them but now I’m full immersed.

Die Auffahrt von #zellmosel auf die Höhen des Hunsrück waren herbstlicher #Radgenuss. Ab jetzt gehörte auch der kräftige Wind aus West mit zum Programm. In dem #tinyhaus hätte ich gerne zu einem Kaffee oder mehr die Beine hoch gelegt ;)

Zupełnie zapomniałem ,że rozpocząłem cykl Noise rockowy 😁 Następny zespół jest raczej mało rozpoznawalny u nas ale zdecydowanie wart uwagi. W odmętach Wisconsin narodzil się Killdozer. Głównie byli związani że słynną w noiseowym światku wytwórnią Touch and Go a producentem wielu ich dzieł był utalentowany Butch Vig (korzystali niego potem m.in Nirvana i Smashing Pumpkins ). Jeden album z kolei produkował sam Steve Albini.

Brzmienie Killdozera jest powolne, surowe, chropowate i ciężkie. Rytm nadaje prymitywna perkusja. Ciekawym dodatkiem do tej mieszanki są okazjonalne Barytonowy Saxhorn, Akordeon, Trąbka i pogwizydywania. Za wokal odpowiada Michael Gerald a jego styl jest celowo przerysowany, teatralny i "kaznodziejski" ( Czym przypomina mi trochę zespół The Jesus Lizard ). Teksty są ironiczne, groteskowe i przepełnione absurdem. Szczególnie wart uwagi jest album Twelve Point Buck.

Powszechnie uważa się ,że podłożyli fundamenty pod Grunge.

Noise rockowa przygoda trwa dalej! Jest taki zespół ,który u nas może być słabo rozpoznawalny a zdecydowanie odcisnął swoje charakterystyczne piętno w Noise. Mowa tu o pewnej biegającej po wodzie jaszczurce 😛 - The Jesus Lizard. Powstali pewien czas po rozpadzie Scratch Acid ( również warty uwagi zespół) w którym grało dwóch Davidów (Yow i Sims) . Połączyli siły z Duane Denisonem (znany m.in. z całkiem fajnego projektu Tomahawk). Spakowali się i przenieśli manatki z Tekasasu do Chicago. Tam oczywiście siedział znany nam już Steve Albini ,który uczestniczył przy nagraniach jako inżynier dźwięku. Wskoczyli do znanej wśród fanów noise wytwórni Touch & Go i zaczęło się :)

Pierwsze co wybija się przy odsłuchu ich dzieł to psychotyczny wokal Davida Yowa ,który wypluwa słowa niczym szalony kaznodzieja. Za tło służyła dynamiczna "napędowa" gitara basowa, maszynowa perkusja i gitara stanowiąca dodatkową teksturę tej mieszanki.

I could be wrong but it feels to me like the late '70s, when punk arrived and then, more importantly for me, all the post-punk '80s indie labels.

That gave us #Mute, #TwoTone, #Stiff, #TouchAndGo, #K, #Postcard, #CherryRed, #Creation, #SarahRecords, #SubwayRecords, #BlastFirst and all the others. It was great until they folded / were bought by majors.

I feel like the #Fediverse might be that again but for where we are now.

Something that cannot be bought, cannot be centralised.
