Would you like to connect -X to your logger application and another helper app (, JTAlert,...)?

You just need to use a UDP Multicast address (in 224.0.0.1 - 239.255.255.255 range) bound to an network interface (en0 in my case using ) in all the apps.

Don't forget to use the same port everywhere!

Thanks to this I can do digital modes (, , ...) and, *optionally*, use GridTracker to visualize my contacts.

Just had the craziest 90mins on the FT8 weak signals mode working a pileup on 18.100Mhz, totalling 46 contacts, mostly from Europe.

@DJ5CW 🤔 Interesting observation!

I’ve set the QMX up to transmit every 12 minutes, starting with minute 2. Should give :02, :14, :26, :38, :50. Nice and evenly distributed.
Not sure what the 10 % or 20 % duty cycle in WSJT-X and potentially band hopping might do to the statistics.

When watching 10 minute frames of WSPR on 30m, I often have the impression that the 5th two minute slot (starting in the 8th minute) is particularly busy, while the 4th (6th minute) is pretty poorly populated. A quick analysis of all WSPR spots received at SO5CW since August 2024 confirms this:

0: 111k
2: 101k
4: 96k
6: 88k
8: 133k

Wonder if that's some poorly implemented random function in WSJT-X?

A screen shot of a 10 minute window of the WSPR and QRSS window of 30m, showing five WSPR transmission slots on the top. The last slot is particularly busy, the second to last is almost empty.

Connected my @qrplabs #QMX to my #Linux #desktop using #wsjt and got #ecuador first try running about 4 watts. Thanks Hans for such a fun kit to build, that works great. #AmateurRadio #ft8 #qrp

Many spaces in #AmateurRadio such as #ARRL #Yaesu #WSJT-X either directly or indirectly tell #blind and #disabled #HamRadio ops every day that we just don't belong and we don't count through their ongoing and flagrant unwillingness to consider implementing even the most basic concepts of #inclusive or #universal #design principles in any of their products, programs or services. Let's all agree that it is long past time for that to change! #accessibility #disability #a11y

#WSJT #FT8 is on fire it seems. This is the 5 minute monitor but I'm seeing stuff from mid Africa and mid South America this evening !

My amateur radio #FT8 #WSJT-Z home robot is doing a great job so far.

The radio is an Icom IC-7300, working 40 watts into a 40m vertical (tuned on 40-10m), assisted by a #RaspberryPi4

All the #hamradio contacts on the map are less than one year old.

Is this normal WSJT-X behavior? Anyway to stop this system log file from growing?
Of course never doing FT8 again is an option. #FT8 #HamRadio #WSJT-X

WinDirStat results with an 87.5GB wsjtx syslog.log file.

Weirdness in #gqrx and #wsjt-x 2.7.1 only decodes #ft8 or #ft4 of stations in the lowest 300 Hz of the audio spectrum.
The wide graph does show the complete 3KHz fine.
Made a few contacts by tuning the remote stations into the < 300 Hz zone =|-]

I finally figured out the Fox/Hound mode for #FT8 with #WSJT-X and was able to work 5X3K on one call this afternoon on 10 meters.

Apparently old dogs can learn new tricks.

@m0puh with how frequent updates have been for WSJT-X I might have to dabble with it some more. I've been using #JTDX for a while

#WSJTX #WSJT

Finally got #WSJT speaking to my radio. With dummy load tried my first #FT8 (test). It’s transmitting. It’s now a matter of dialing everything in.

I think I made a mistake by installing #WSJT-X through the apt repository. They still haven’t updated to v2.6 after several months. I guess I should have installed directly from the website instead. #linux

Alright, so what would cause #JTDX to consistently stop transmitting after ~2 seconds when #WSJT-X with the exact same settings does not? Also happens if I use the Tune button.

Funny thing just happened on #hamradio. I was on #JS8CALL, exited, and restarted #WSJT-X. I didn't check the frequency, but I was still on 7078 kHz (#js8 frequency), instead of 7074 kHZ (the regular #ft8 frequency), and wondered why there's no activity, when suddenly there was a CQ from LU1ZV. Yes, from Antarctica. QSO complete, RSTR/S -04/-01.

So check out some other frequencies; you never know who's out there.
